~ Uncle Grizzly in every episode. |
Uncle Grizzly is the narrator of the first six seasons of the animated children's black comedy horror series Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids which was also based on a book series of the same name.
He was portrayed by Nigel Planer.
Biography[]
Uncle Grizzly is an elderly, maniacal man who is the owner of a movie theater dubbed the Squeam Screen Cinema. He is the only person who works for the movie theater, with him manhandling the tickets, pointing the guests to their seats, offering snacks (which are creepy crawlies ranging from flies, beetles, slugs or worms), and he would also be the one who would initiate the "grizzly tales" by giving a small introduction to the picture (this was later changed in the later seasons).
He also has a pet spider named Spindleshanks, whom he often abuses. For the most part, the abuse serves as another way of introducing the moral of the cartoon that was about to be shown. Several examples of his abuse towards Spindleshanks includes bashing him with books, performing unethical experiments on him, or threatening to eat him.
Most of Uncle Grizzly's life is unknown. What is known is he has a half-brother named Night-Night Porter who had taken over as narrator in seasons 7 and 8 of the television series. Uncle Grizzly also has the ability to morph his head into any shape often as a way of scaring Spindleshanks.
