John "Johnny" Williams, better known as Uncle Johnny, is the main antagonist of the story Play With Me. He is a child molester and the uncle of the story's protagonist Sally Williams, whom he develops a one sided sexual attraction over.
Personality[]
A soulless and vile individual, Johnny hides his true colors under a laid-back, relaxed, and friendly attitude, showing to love his free time and caring for his family, showing a loving fun uncle vibe to Sally. However, it is revealed that Johnny is cunning and manipulative, and a completely disgusting monster who molests and abuses his niece, keeping her silent under the threat of torture, and the remake shows that he can become a hot headed and wrathful person, in which he can flip like a lid.
The remake goes further into his motivation, describing Johnny as a ticking time bomb, who showed envy towards his brother Frank for having things he didn’t, and hated Marie for choosing Frank over him and having Sally, who was the spitting image of Marie, making Johnny grow lustful. When he’s arrested, Johnny takes little responsibility, only blaming both Frank and Marie for Sally’s abuse and death.
Biography[]
Due to the polishing and more in-depth writing as opposed to the original, this will primarily focus on the remake version:
Not much is known about Johnny’s life before the story, except the fact he and his brother Frank dealt with an abusive father who targeted his abuse towards Johnny, and he despised Frank for having the “perfect life.” He fell in love with Marie and grew more hateful when she chose Frank over him. He would then marry another woman and presumably grew attracted to Sally due to her spitting image of her mother.
At the time of the story, Johnny has gotten a divorce from his wife. He told his brother he was relieved about it because it gave him more privacy. Johnny was invited to stay with Sally's family at their house and Sally was excited to see him. The first hint of Johnny's true nature occurs when Johnny insists on changing Sally in her pajamas and tucking her in.
During the next four years, Johnny would then sexually abuse Sally, all the while threatening her into silence by saying he was going play the worst game with her. Some nights, Sally manages to lock her door to prevent Johnny from coming in, and Sally gets depressed, paranoid, and desperate.
One day, when the fair rolls around, Sally runs into Johnny on the front porch, Johnny immediately becomes hateful and intimidating to Sally, demanding her to keep her doors unlocked, but once Sally's friends, Sara and Jennie, come up and notice something wrong, Johnny instantly turns back into his friendly persona and pretended like nothing happened, and the day of the trip went on, with Sally unable to enjoy it.
After Sally informs Jennie and Sara of the issues going on, the three make a plan to publicly expose Johnny for his crimes, but before it happens, Johnny catches word and takes Sally the supermarket for ice cream, but Johnny proceeds to drive past it and he threatens Sally more, causing her to jump out of the car and run, with Johnny following her while threatening to kill her, and when he catches up, he kills and rapes Sally in a fit of rage.
Johnny is caught afterward and turned in to the police, where he confesses his crimes, blaming Sally’s parents for having perfect lives, and he is locked away for life, while Sally’s ghost wanders aimlessly, wanting to meet new people going through similar things like her.
