The people called them "Unclean," legless colossi that dragged themselves across the land with their monstrous arms, absorbing everything in their path into themselves, withering the soil with their foul touch, moaning blood-curdling lamentations with their featureless faces.

The Unclean are recurring antagonists in the SCP Foundation series. They are large hostile creatures in the mirror world of SCP-093 that were once humans who were mutated as a result of the "Lord's Tears".
They serve as supporting antagonists in the "Resurrection: His Will Be Done" series.
The Unclean were originally normal people living in the alternate reality, designated E-093, accessible through the use of SCP-093. Their advanced civilization professed to a pseudo-Catholic religion which adhered to the god-like being referred to only as "Him". These people would bathe themselves in a holy liquid provided by their supposed deity, known as the "Lord's Tears". The most holy would judge some of these individuals who were believed to have indulged in wrongdoings, and any heretic or sinner found guilty would be sent to bathe in the Lord's Tears and be transformed into humanoid faceless behemoths which lacked legs.
The Unclean after being created went around snatching random people to absorb into their body. Their victims after being absorbed wouldn't die and instead they would be eternally trapped inside the Unclean until they were killed. The inhabitants believed that the Unclean were monsters of sin, hence referring to them as "Unclean", and with the assistance of the local military force labeled the Blessed Militia drove the Unclean to deserted lands known as the "Unfertile Lands". Eventually, almost all life in world was extinguished as a result of the Unclean, leaving them as the only creatures still present, alongside the ghosts of those who perished.
Lord Blackwood and the Land of the Unclean[]
Lord Blackwood ended up in SCP-093's mirror world when it was at its peak and still alive. While he was there, he couldn't help but sense a fear of the Unclean and Lord Blackwood wanted to hunt one himself. When Blackwood tried to sneak past the borders of where the Unfertile Lands were and where the Unclean resided, one attacked him, but luckily, a Blessed Militia unit came to save him, and one member was sucked by the Unclean, but the clothes were left behind.
Later on, Blackwood was able to trick the judges into thinking that he was a member of the most holy, and that he was here to conduct research on how the Unclean were made. To his horror after many days of research, he realized that the Unclean weren't a result of sin, but rather mutated people after they had been exposed to a certain concentration of the Lord's Tears. Blackwood then made an antidote that could reverse these effects, put them in a gun, and secretly manufactured them so civilians there could fight the Unclean. Blackwood then set out on his hunt, and managed to kill an Unclean-to his shock and disgust, the Unclean exploded into a bunch of dead naked people, and Blackwood realized that the Unclean wanted to die but couldn't, and that humans were the true monsters. He then departed the mirror world, and secretly wished that no man would ever be sent into the Lord's Tears again.
SCP-093 Tests[]
Centuries later when the Foundation discovered SCP-093 and it's mirror world, it had already been taken over by the Unclean and everything was in ruins, with no living things other than the Unclean sighted. In the first test, the Blue test, a D-class saw an Unclean when he was coming back, and ran for his life. Luckily, he managed to make it back to the portal just in time, and only ended up with a bad-smelling brown stain on his clothes that dried up quickly.
During the second test, the Green Test, several Unclean beings were sighted by the D-class, but they did not notice her and she made it back to the portal safely. However, the old diary she brought back revealed much more: The house she explored belonged to a farmer and his family who lived a fairly normal life until many Unclean beings surrounded his house. The young son, Trev, was sucked by them, so the family had to move down into the bunker to stay safe. The Unclean kept staying there, and the food rotted, and the family all committed suicide after realizing that they had other options, and that going back outside would be a fate worse than death.
During the Violet, Yellow, and Red tests, the Foundation discovered the truth about the Unclean's origins, that they were once normal people and that "the most holy ones" lied to the former civilians of the mirror world in one disturbing file found in the red test: There wasn't any war involving the "Holy One," the "Holy One" is in fact a powerful entity that can travel through different worlds to toy with them, and that everything that happened in that world was all just it brainwashing the people for it's own sadistic pleasure. After that, the Foundation stopped all tests out of fear that "It" would come to their dimension and do the same thing one day.
Marshall, Carter and Dark[]
Wanting to claim the precious artifacts that were located in this alternate world, Iris Dark of Marshall, Carter and Dark Ltd., alongside her companions Li'l Lollipop of Herman Fuller's Circus of the Disquieting and Victor Chan, went there through artificial Ways. The trio made their way to one of the massive buildings in order to collect the world's advanced technology, while avoiding the Unclean. However, when arriving to the lab, they found one of the smaller Unclean locked behind a thick diamond barrier. Seeing that this Unclean was inactive and that it had remained there since before the world had ended, the group decided to continue with their work unabated. However, after Iris claimed the Tears as requested by Percival Dark, the imprisoned Unclean sensed that and broke out. It attempted to consume the group but Lolly was able to jump into the upper floor before carrying Iris and Victor with her, which allowed the Unclean to drink the Tears for itself. As it drank, Iris determined to get the Tears at any cost hopped back down and with Blackwood's ammunition shot the Unclean. As it began to dissolve the Unclean attempted to get to Iris but luckily she was able to land the finish shot just before it reached her, causing its liquified remains to fall on her. With the Unclean dead the trio got everything they needed before leaving this world behind.
Possible Endings[]
Unfinished Business II[]
After Dr. Clef used SCP-093 to drag SCP-239 into the alternate dimension in order to nullify her powers and kill her for good, Dr. Bright mortally wounded Clef as part of the Neutralization plan. However, Clef was able to steal Bright's SCP-963 and with it went to 093's reality again before destroying 093 and dying. Following that, an Unclean came across Clef's body and proceeded to absorb it. However, it accidentally also absorbed SCP-963 which caused Bright's soul to possess the Unclean, and since all of the Unclean were connected with each other Bright ended up possessing all of the Unclean.
Appearance[]
According to the D-classes sent into SCP-093's world, as well as Lord Blackwood, the Unclean were huge towering entities about 50 feet, but they only had a torso and no legs. The Unclean also had no faces, instead a smooth featureless surface, and very long arms that they used to crawl around. The Unclean smell awful according to both accounts, and if looked closely their insides could be seen which comprised of floating bodies.
Behavior[]
The Unclean seem to be able to sense people, and will attempt to absorb them into itself through its face. According to some of the test logs, the Unclean are composed of unstable matter, and can also manifest between places. They are a hivemind of sorts, because one Unclean has absorbed multiple people to get to its size. Due to the fact that the Unclean were created by the Lord's Tears in the first place, the Unclean seem to be attracted to the purest form of that substance.
In Other Media[]
Confinement[]
The Unclean briefly appear at the start of Episode 4 of the Confinement YouTube series, in which one of them chases the protagonist Connor who had been sent through SCP-093's world as part of a test. The Unclean is successful in capturing Connor, but the latter is later resurrected and is able to leave the dimension.
Trivia[]
SCP-093 was originally created by an author whose name has been lost. It was later rewritten and expanded by NekoChris.
Fictional depictions of the Unclean are featured in the Serpent's Hand's web series "Habil and Qabil", in which the characters of SCP-076-2 and SCP-507 are accidentally transported into their dimension as a result of the latter's property.
