~ Unicron |
Unicron is the overarching antagonist of Dreamwave's comic book adaptations of Transformers: Armada and Transformers: Energon. He is known for traveling throughout the multiverse and devouring entire realities in his path.
Biography[]
After plunging the Cybertron of a G1-based universe to near-extinction, Unicron sent that universe's tortured and barely alive Optimus Prime to the Transformers: Armada universe as a warning that he's targeting their universe next. Unicron then sent his heralds (Bludgeon, Dirge, Galvatron, Scourge, and Thunderwing) to invade their version of Cybertron, with the intention of killing the Optimus Prime and Megatron of that universe. Unfortunately for them, the Armada Optimus Prime was accidentally sent to the ravaged G1 universe, where he would encounter the sole-survivor Spinister. Spinister was driven insane by the experience and willingly accepted his inevitable fate. Although, Jetfire managed to track down and save Optimus, Spinister was not so lucky, as him and his entire universe were consumed by Unicron. After his heralds were defeated, Unicron would finally arrive to the Transformers: Armada universe where he himself would be defeated by the Mini-Con Matrix and transported to parts unknown but not before taking Megatron with him, as well as kidnapping Airazor, Cheetor, Rhinox and Terrorsaur.
Although heavily damaged, Unicron managed to survive. Ten years later, he would team up with Alpha Quintesson to try to be restored to full power so he can continue his rampage again. He created terrorcons, super powered decepticons with new weapons and powers to outmatch the transformers, even reformatted those like Rhinox, Cheetor, Airazor and Terrorsaur into guardsmen like warriors. Optimus Prime eventually transported to Unicron, and after freeing Megatron, began his new goal of ending Unicron, boasting that he was coming for him. While future adventures of Unicron were not explored more further, due to Dreamwave's company going bankrupt. It was revealed by the writer of the energon comics in 2010, that Unicron was directly responsible for Alpha Quintesson's planet and empire in shambles, he had planned to destroy Unicron by using a weapon called the conduit. Unicron would reawaken again, but Alpha developed a backup plan where a mole in the autobot ranks, discovered a nuclear warhead and transported to Unicron, destroying him, but causing the singularity to tie into Transformers: Cybertron.
Trivia[]
- This version of Unicron was originally part of a idea of having one Unicron exist throughout the multiverse as a singularity of some sort.
- Unicron doesn't turn into robot mode, but there are two comic covers from Armada and Energon depicting how he'd look.
- Unlike the anime, Sideways is not a servant of Unicron in this series.
- Also the Minicons may not be part of him as well, as the Minicons didn't posses any relations to Unicron.
- It is unknown of Unicron would've sport his energon colors from the anime counterpart since the energon comic books remain unfinished.
- Similar to the 1986 film, Unicron's weakness is the Matrix but here it is a matrix based from the mini-con faction.
- In the premire comic of Energon: This Evil Reborn, when Unicron reformates Tidal Wave the sequence is similar to how Galvatron was created in the 1986 film.
