You fought bravely. But this world… is already mine.
~ Unicron arriving at Earth; his most famous quote.
Once I have the key, I alone will reign supreme.
~ Unicron to his herald Scourge.
Unicron: DON'T PRIME... I CAN GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU WANT...
Optimus Prime: Then DIE!
~ Unicron's last words as he attempts to stop Optimus from destroying the transwarp key only for Optimus to destroy it anyway.

Unicron, also known as the Chaos Bringer, is the overarching antagonist of the 2023 science fiction action film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the second installment in the reboot continuity of Paramount PicturesTransformers film series.

He is the cosmic Cybertronian God of Chaos and Destruction who devours planets as fuel and wishes to kill his twin brother and eternal nemesis, Primus, the Cybertronian God of Benevolence and Creation and destroy everything that exists to obtain peace in his own way.

In the early 1990s, Unicron sets his sights on devouring the Earth after learning the Transwarp Key was there from his most powerful enforcer Scourge, leading the Autobots and Maximals to engage in a war with him and the Terrorcons in order to stop Unicron from reaching both Earth and Cybertron, thus ending his arch-nemesis and brother, Primus, making all of existence belong to the Chaos Bringer.

During the battle against the two heroic factions, Unicron was imprisoned to the Maximals' galaxy for now by Optimus Prime when the Last Prime destroyed the Transwarp Key. However, Unicron will eventually come back one day to exact revenge on the Autobots and Maximals, especially Optimus Prime as well to seek out and destroy his eternal nemesis and brother, Primus.

He was voiced by Colman Domingo, who also played Victor Strand in Fear the Walking Dead, Albert Johnson in the 2023 musical remake of The Color Purple, and William Burke in Candyman.

Personality[]

There's a legend that precedes the dawn of our civilization. A vile god, so large and so powerful, that it consumed entire planets as fuel. Few believed such a thing could be true, until the day we saw Unicron with our own eyes.
~ Optimus Primal describes Unicron.

Unicron is a greedy and stoic dark god who seeks to devour planets and their inhabitants to both satisfy his hunger and achieve his own twisted version of peace at the same time in the process as he devours the worlds he destroyed. The mad god also seeks to kill his twin brother and arch nemesis, Primus, showing that he has no level of compassion and love for his family

But he isn't always stoic as he appears to be as he has no tolerance for those who fail him and loathes excuses as he threatened them to get better results, when the Chaos Bringer tortured Scourge for only bringing him half of the Transwarp Key and ordered him to complete the Key, threatening to do something worse than killing the Terrorcon leader if he doesn't get the job done. Unicron also called Scrouge's beliefs that the Maximals must have split the Transwarp Key as excuses.

He is also manipulative, as shown when he tries convincing Optimus Prime to not destroy the Transwarp Key by promising that he'll get anything he wants, only for Optimus to destroy the Transwarp Key right in front of him.

Unicron can be quite ambitious also as his primary goal in his immortal life is to become the most omnipotent force in all of the multiverse by using the energy from the ecosystems he's ingested throughout the millennia in order to become such a force

Biography[]

Long ago before Optimus Prime and the Autobots took refuge on Earth, the malevolent deity Unicron approaches the home planet of the Maximals and dispatches a small army of Terrorcons and Scorponock drones alongside his most powerful herald, Scourge, to retrieve the Transwarp Key, a powerful device created by the Maximals that would allow him to enter other galaxies, devour their planets and lastly to kill his brother and arch-nemesis, Primus throughout time and space. Scourge managed to track down the Maximals in a nearby forest and came face-to-face with their previous leader Apelinq which Scourge had succeeded in killing the Maximal, taking his emblem in the process, but before the leader of the Terrorcons could realize, he was too late to stop Optimus Primal and the rest of the Maximals from escaping the planet with the Transwarp Key and Unicron will be trapped in the Maximals' galaxy forever before Unicron arrived and destroyed their homeworld. After he reprimanded Scourge for letting the Maximals get away with the Transwarp Key, Unicron then orders him to scour the universe and find where the Maximals had gone with the key.

Thousands of years later, Scourge found half of the Transwarp key and presented it to the god of chaos who then telekinetically tortured him for only bringing him half of the key. Scourge desperately explains that the Maximals must have split the key into two and ordered by the chaos god to go to retrieve the other half before threatening him.

Days later, Scourge temporarily succeeded to obtain the Transwarp key from a corrupted Airazor, after which he opened a portal for Unicron so that the latter may consume the Earth. However his plan was ultimately thwarted by the combined efforts of the Autobots and Maximals, culminating in the destruction of the key by Optimus Prime, leaving the Brother of Chaos trapped in the Maximal Galaxy for the time being as he will come back one day, planning his next move against the Autobots and Maximals, especially Optimus Prime, the disciple of Primus as well to seek out to destroy his brother, Primus.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Cybertronian Deity Physiology: As the planet-sized God of Chaos, Unicron is an immensely powerful being and not many beings even the Primes themselves can rival his attributes, all except for his brother and equal Primus.
    • Incalculable Strength: Due to his massive size and status as a Cybertronian deity, he possesses incalculable levels of physical strength.
    • Subordinates Creations: Unicron possesses the ability to create minions in his own image for further achieving his goal. Such as sending the swarms of Sweeps and Predacon Scorponoks.
    • Nigh-Omnipotence: To be added
      • Planetary Consumption: Unicron has made it his mission to consume everything in existence to achieve his own twisted version of peace but to also satisfy his hunger at the same time while consuming the planets he destroys.
      • Reality Warping: As one of the Twin Brothers, Unicron possesses the ability to shape the entirety of reality to his will.
      • Telekinesis: Unicron has the ability to move objects or even living beings without touching them. This was demonstrated when he tortured Scourge for only bringing him one half of the Transwarp key in his anger.
      • Mental Manipulation: To be added
    • Immortality: Unicron is an immortal being for he is not a mortal being unlike most of Cybertronians in general, humans and other lifeforms in the universe. Due to being a Cybertronian god, Unicron cannot be killed by customary means when Primal revealed Unicron is only imprisoned for now but will return one day to destroy Earth and his brother, Primus.

Quotes[]

Unicron: You let them slip away with the Transwarp Key. Scour the universe and find where the Maximals have gone. When you acquire the key, use it to bring me to you.
Scourge: Yes, my lord.
Unicron: Once I have the key... I alone will reign supreme.
~ Unicron's first line as he orders Scourge to find the Transwarp Key before destroying and consuming the Maximal planet, his most famous quote.
Unicron: YOU FOOL! This is only half the key!
Scourge: Please! The Maximals! They must have split it!
Unicron: EXCUSES! Complete the key or else, you will wish you had died with the rest of your planet!
~ Unicron angered at Scourge for only bringing him the first half of the Transwarp key, while telekinetically ordering him to find the second half.

Trivia[]

  • Director Steven Caple Jr. introduced Unicron in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts because of his wishes to see Unicron in the Bumblebee sequel, hoping that other filmmakers (as he isn't signed to return) choose to use Unicron again for the next two sequels (as ROTB has been confirmed to be the first in a trilogy) as a major villain for the original film continuity.
  • It's often theorized after Scourge murdered the original Predacon Scorponok, his spark was used by Unicron to create the mass product of Predacon Scorponok Drones.
