Who he is D'Spayre
Andre Deschaine (aka D'Spayre) is the main antagonist of the second season of Marvel's Cloak and Dagger. He developed a passion for jazz music at a very young age and grew up to become a jazz musician. One day, however, he started suffering exceedingly painful migraines and had to stop playing jazz altogether. Feeling like he had nothing else to live for, he tried to commit suicide, but a nearby explosion prevented that. He was infused with the Darkforce and Lightforce, and subsequently gained the ability to feed off of people's emotions and memories to alleviate his migraines. He then started a support group, and used his powers to help girls and other abuse victims regain their confidence. But for those who refuse his support and counceling D'Spayre would drain them of their hope to tamp down his migraines, and sell into trafficking. Though he succeeded in this endeavor, he discovered a Voodoo symbol and planned to use it to increase his powers and ascend to godhood, and to that end, he contacted Chantelle Fusilier. When Chantelle became aware of how dangerous he is, he mentally stopped her heart and killed her. The icing on this cake is that he played a trumpet solo while forcing his brainwashed victims to hum along, thus completing his ascension and becoming a Loa.
Why He doesn't Qualify
I know the trafficking was wrong but their are reason D'Spayre is not even close to pure evil. First of all as it has been shown, when he was a counciler he used his powers to help people that regain their confidence, more than did when he drained the hope of the girls who refused his counciling to stop his headaches, bit they were still victims. Secondly when his trafficking bussiness failed in order to get away form Cloak and Dagger, who were tracking him down. D'Spayre needed to drain Lia of her hope to stop his headaches. but he didn't force her to help him, he asked her to do it. Finally, as he brainwashed everyone so he can drain their despair in order to ascend into godhood to free himself from his migraines, when he took them to the Darkforce Dimension, what he did with them was not heinous at all. He just brainswashed victims into sitting down, watching him as he played his jazz music.
