Honestly don't think anyone counts, but given how I have the discussion date for the Netflix film:

  1. Light Turner: For starters, he's the least evil take of the character. Besides getting pressured to kill a bully by Ryuk, Light tries to stay to his plan of killing criminals. When the opportunity of killing his father arises, Light cannot bring himself to kill him. Despite being targeted by the FBI, he also doesn't opt to killing them. He has a Freduian Excsue in the form of him losing his mother in a hit and run which fuels his crusade of doing away with crime. On an unrelated note, Nat Wolf's interpretation of the character isn't good. He comes off as an Emo kid who doesn't even do anything remotely that could be seen as "genius" at least until the ending.
  2. Mia Sutton: Unlike Light, Mia is motivated by deriving sexual gratification from the murders. She starts to conspire against Light in a feeble attempt of getting the Death Note for herself. She sabotages Light's plan of getting Watari to find information about L, thus leading to his death. She also kills 12 of the FBI agents who were sent to capture Kira. She even resorts to writing Light's name in the Death Note, giving him until midnight to transfer the ownership of the Death Note to her before his heart stopped beating. However...she is a pretty special case. Mia lacks any redeeming factors like a Freudian excuse, or genuine remorse. As for her love for Light....I'm kind of iffy in that department. On the one hand, she wrote his name in the Death Note so that she could coerce him into handing the nook over to her, but when they meet in the Ferris wheel, she has a single tear whilst explaining that she didn't truly wish to kill him, only to further push her towards surrendering the notebook. But with her love for Light, I guess where I'm stumped is whether or not she truly loved Light, or saw him as an outlet for her sadistic cravings. On the downside, she is more in line to how Light acted in the original than with Misa Amane. With her sharing Light's crimes, it could muddy her chances at qualifying as well. If anything, I feel that she was close, but her feelings for Light are too ambiguous for me to be confident to give her a "Yes."
