Alright I'm back. Thanks The Pro-Wrestler for giving me another shot at this after my unfortunate blunder a year ago.
I made this proposal on the Pure Evil Wiki, then the Villains Fanon Wiki, now that the Roblox Migration to the Villains Wiki is happening, I was really hoping I wouldn't have to do this but welp seems like this candidate is once again in my hands to propose on this wiki. As a result, I will get this one done and over with, so he gets officially discussed here.
So, without further ado (for a third time)...
What's the Work?[]
The A Roblox Quest Trilogy is a series of 3D Non-Linear Roblox Platformers created by Radiogamers that are inspired by old-school open world platformers like Banjo Kazooie, Legend of Zelda etc. etc. It consists of the game Quest to the Guest, Bloxxy Tooie, and Elements of Robloxia. The story is about a protagonist (YOU!!!) who stops the EVIL VILLAIN Phantom Orb from taking over the world!!!!!!!!! The first two games have their prologues and epilogues as YouTube Videos instead of in-game cutscenes which this proposal will also cover.
Who is He and What Has He Done?[]
Phantom Orb first appeared to a Guest who was being bullied by people. He told the Guest that he would help him, only to brainwash him into doing "cruel things to them" before proceeding to use him as a vessel for world domination. The protagonist goes on a long journey to get to fighting the Guest only it to be revealed that the mastermind behind the plot is Phantom Orb. After defeating him, Phantom Orb tries to kill both the Guest and the protagonist by blowing the place up, however the Guest protects the protagonist and somehow, they both barely manage to survive.
Phantom Orb then proceeds to possess a which named Graciela, assuming the identity of a witch villain named "Grantilda" (Who is totally not a reference to a Banjo Kazooie villain). Grantilda then proceeded to perform an assault of Mayahem Temple, causing mayhem and chaos while scattering the Jiggies all across the world. The player once again sets out on an adventure to put an end to Grantilda's world dominating scheme. Behind the scenes however, Grantilda built a giant robot to aid them in their quest to hegemony. Upon the player reaching Cauldron's Keep, Grantilda is there to quiz him on a large gameboard... because I guess that's kinda what happened in Banjo Tooie so we're rolling with that. Then after that the real battle against their robot begins and of course it gets destroyed, Phantom Orb gets mad about it before leaving Graciela's body, and curses the player before making his leave.
We learn in Elements of Robloxia of the true reason Phantom Orb specifically chose the Guest and Graciela as vessels for his first two schemes. As it turns out, the two characters were guardians of two Elements, the Element of Companionship and the Element of Knowledge. The two elements were part of a set of five elements that governed and kept the world in balance. So, when Phantom Orb failed each time, he stole them as a backup plan for his next scheme. Fast forward into the present day, Phantom Orb is still looking for elements and senses one in Roblox HQ. He disguises himself as a mysterious man named "Porb" before making a request to enter the HQ to meet with Shedletsky. Shedletsky accepts the requests and wonders what this "Porb" seeks. When Porb was talking nonsense to Shedletsky asking for "elements", Porb decided to drop the act and reveal himself to the Roblox Admin. Pissed that Phantom Orb would try to attack the admin, Shedletsky tried to ban him on the spot, but it was too late as Phantom Orb completely obliterated him on the spot, blowing up a portion of the HQ and sending Shedletsky's Roblox corpse Parts flying. However, he was not the true guardian of the Element of Bravery as he witnessed Telamon (who is a different person than Shedletsky in this game) defend himself using the element. This blunder didn't thwart Phantom Orb however, as all he had to do was wait for the element to wear of before ambushing Telamon. After acquiring the element, Phantom Orb went towards the Dark Temple and Light Temple to gather more resources for his third world takeover scheme. His aim is to build the OmneDarkTron and build an entire army of his shades to fill the entire world with darkness in order to make it his domain. Once again, we're tasked with putting an end to his schemes for the third time like I am tasked with proposing this villain for the third time on a different wiki.
When the protagonist made it to the Dark Temple, Phantom Orb awaited them and did his usual "You'll never beat me!!!" taunts he did in previous entries. He deployed his minions CamoRed (who are definitely not villainous references to Mario and Luigi) to kill them, but they go out in Mario and Luigi Game Over Music Style. Later on in the Light Temple, Phantom Orb spotted Grooxe (Who is totally not a reference to Groose from Skyward Sword) wandering around and "pretending to be a hero". That's when he corrupted him into becoming a dark version of himself in order to try to kill his own ally the protagonist. This is also where we learn of his plans to build the OmneDarkTron.
But Phantom Orb is definitely NOT happy when the protagonist for the third time makes it far into the game and reaches Roblox HQ. Not having it with a third loss on his belt on its way, Phantom Orb gets aggressive with his own minions, pushing them to activate the OmneDarkTron even if it's not finished. But then, the protagonist destroys it. With that, it's showtime as Phantom Orb completely lost it and went from your average generic take over the world villain to a guy out for everyone's blood. He kidnaps the young and defenseless florist Petunia while opening the portal back to his own dimension so he can straight up destroy the world if he can't rule it. The protagonist enters his realm to confront him, but Phantom Orb is not having it and is bent on annihilating everything. Unlike the last time where the Phantom Orb gets defeated, Phantom Orb straights up severely injure the player, putting them into the coma. Just before Phantom Orb finished them off, a fairy named Betiella sent them away. That's ok though because he can always suck the soul of four elemental guardians in order to power himself and destroy humanity. With the last element in the protagonist's possession as a sword, it's time for a final showdown with this vicious foe. After freeing the four souls, Phantom Orb taunts the player over still not being able to defeat him however Rupbert throws Fred's hat at his face. Phantom Orb thinking Rupbert thought the hat would defeat him, he crushed it with glee. However, Fred horrified that one of his hats was destroyed, lashed out at the behemoth distracting him. With Phantom Orb distracted, the player made a mad dash to the four guardians to they can power a super ultra-light laser to finish of Phantom Orb for good!
Heinous Standards[]
Ever since the release of my last proposal on the Villains Fanon Wiki, there has been recent updates that does change things a bit on this front. We now have another villain named Darak in the postgame that can compete with Phantom Orb due to also being an omnicidal maniac. However, I don't think he poses a threat to his status as he's the only other villain in the game to attempt omnicide and Phantom Orb does have the added edge of soul stealing which is portrayed rather seriously and actually having kills tied to him. Not to mention Darak redeems himself, outright showing that he will no longer commit any heinous crimes while Phantom Orb was actively a villain scheming plots for the entirety of the trilogy, responding with attempted omnicide when they fail.
While his worst act of attempting to destroy the world is only established by one line, it's definitely no bluff. Unlike the previous two games, Phantom Orb's demeanor completely changes towards the end of Elements of Robloxia, losing his taunty and smirky side and becoming more sinister and hostile towards the heroes. He also straights up kidnaps Petunia and the other guardians for the specific purpose to steal their souls and elements to power himself in order to "consume the world with darkness". And I don't think the line "If you can't conquer the world, you better destroy it..." can be interpreted in any other way other than "I'm a sore loser that can't take over the world so I'm going to kill everyone now!"
Redeeming Qualities/Mitigating Factors[]
Pretty straightforward on this front, no evidence of agency issues or any qualities that can be interpreted as showing that he cares for others or has any noble traits. The only real issues are comedy which I don't think is that big of a problem. The narrative may not have been as extreme in tone in the early entries where he ambushes a group of bullies which is "censored" because it's too cruel to see along with the second game being clearly an entire reference to Banjo Tooie with Phantom Orb playing along by being a clear reference to Gruntilda, I don't think they detract from his seriousness as a villain. For one, none of the references are played as jokes and are more of a homage to games the creator likes and Phantom Orb's seriousness is amped up in the final entry. Pretty much everyone in the story takes him seriously as a threat with even the deities warning that if he succeeds the world is outright "doomed". Phantom Orb also drops his "I'm gonna get ya, hehe!" demeanor when his OmneDarkTron gets destroyed and is instead replaced with a "Fuck it, everyone in the world is dead and I'm going to give you all pain!" in the final act of Elements of Robloxia, so it's clear the narrative ends him off on a dark note especially when the characters decide to kill him with a laser blast to make sure he doesn't pose a threat in the future even with the little comedic effect of his defeat where Fred jumps onto Phantom Orb fulfilling the Fred loves his hats gag. Even after said defeat his minions still pose a threat, attempting to finish what his master set out to do, making George and Grooxe attempt a heroic sacrifice. All in all I think Phantom Orb is definitely serious enough by the narrative he’s in.
Verdict[]
This better be the last time I handle this candidate.
