What is the work?[]
"The Pastel Man" is a creepypasta which tells the story of a boy whose father started to feel ill and was about to die when, at the same moment, he was visited by a dark creature, which he nicknamed "the pastel blue man".
Who is he/it and what he/it did?[]
The "Pastel Man" is a enigmatic entity who is strongly implied to be evil. Is a humanoid abomination who appears to make pacts with people when their loved ones are on the verge of death. He "promises" to save the life of the loved one if the person makes a pact with him, basically a trap that consists in choosing a person to die in exchange for the one who will be saved. And if the pact is not satisfied by a certain time, the pastel man kills the person who made the pact to live his life in exchange for the one he "saved" from death. The creature is described as hideous in appearance, having a skin of pastel blue color, which gave it the nickname "Pastel blue man".
A teenage boy once witnessed his father having a heart attack and almost dying, that's when the pastel man first appeared to him. The man said he could save the boy's father, as long as he chose someone to die for him. The boy was afraid of the proposal and horrified by the appearance of the entity, but he still accepted the agreement and thought of the person who would give his life to save his father's as a bully in the school that tormented him, because it was at that moment, the most expendable person in her life. After making the pact and putting an insect in the boy's father's mouth, which would eventually prevent him from dying, the pastel man gave the boy a deadline to give him the victim he would take in the boy's father's place and that, after that period and the victim was not given, who would die in the boy's father's place would be him. With no choices and still weighing in on his conscience, the boy lures the bully from his school, named Walter, to a dark place in street just to witness the pastel blue man plucking his guts with his huge claws, cruelly killing and torturing the bully with joy, which left the boy horrified and sorry for make the deal. After killing the bully, the pastel blue man delights and admires his carnage with sadism.
As part of fulfilling the agreement, the boy's father was saved from death. But in return, the pastel blue man makes the boy feel guilty for Walter's murder.
Years later, the teenage boy, now a married adult man with children, he witnessed his wife dyed in a car accident and his son almost dying. The pastel man could not bring his wife back to life, but he could save his son's life on the brink of death, leading the man to finally make a second pact with the entity after years of being tempted to do so every time a relative was in danger of life, from the first time he did it to save his father. Having made the pact, the man thought about whom the pastel man could take and the first thing that came to his head was the guy who caused the accident that killed his wife and who had also been in a coma. But when looking at the same, he saw that he was still just a teenager and did not want him to be a victim of the pastel man like the bully Walter was years ago. Thus, the protagonist decides to be killed in the place of the boy who caused the accident and ends the creepypasta by reporting the sunset that meant the end of the agreement and that the pastel man would come and kill him.
Why he can't qualify?[]
The main reason because I fell the pastel man can't qualify as Pure Evil is because he was approved mostly by fridge horror. We are not sure of his malice in doing what he did no matter how sadistic he sounds. We also do not know if he propositally forces the people with whom he makes deal to watch other people dying for pure sadism of if it is really necessary to the pact with the creature work, because like the pastel man himself likes to say: "one shall die so another may live". Also, he sounds pretty much like a generic doomsday villain for shockvalue like many creepypasta ones and we are not sure about his true nature, so I think he does everyone he did mostly as part of the ritual than actual malice.
