“ | If you really wish to stop me, you must come to this planet. (BoBoiBoy: Earth? He's heading to Planet Earth?!) If it wasn't for these pathetic kids... (BoBoiBoy: Fang! Ying! Yaya!!!) I wouldn't have learned about this planet that contains all seven elements. I will see you there. | „ |
~ Now that is a shocking quote if I remember. This is the only villain in the franchise to attempt to commit omnicide. |
I was clearly inspired whenever I saw these old proposals created from old days were remaked into a new and better ones due to how skimpy and low-effort they are. So, I decided to remake my old proposal that I've made back in 2020, which happens to be Retak’ka.
So if anyone asked why am I doing this, well, looked back at my old proposal of Retak'ka, aside the fact that the section about the work wasn't added or the introduction of the candidate, but the Heinous Standards section was insufficiently detailed as there's no actual heinous standards of the work, how did he compared with others who did heinous actions, how heinous he is nor how much resources he has, and the Redeeming Qualities section only explaining his tragedy and didn't really explained the other mitigating factors he has. TBH, I wasn't really proud of what I've wrote so far, so I decide to fix that kind of mistakes I have made by remaking it with new and better ones.
Special thanks to Pro for giving me a permission to make a Formality Post of him to create a new and better ones.
What's the work?[]
BoBoiBoy Movie 2 is a Malaysian action adventure CGI-animated movie that was produced by Monsta and distributed by Astro Shaw, that was theatrically released on August 8, 2019. It was the second movie produced by Monsta after BoBoiBoy: The Movie since 2016. The film takes place after the events of the first season of BoBoiBoy Galaxy, where BoBoiBoy and his gang are facing an ancient villain from a hundred years ago named Retak'ka, who return to "take back" all of the elemental powers he once has from him. After losing four of his elemental powers, BoBoiBoy and his friends are traveling to Quabaq Planet where they're trained under Hang Kasa in order to defeat Retak'ka and stop him at all costs before it's too late.
Who is he?[]
Retak'ka is an overarching antagonist of BoBoiBoy franchise, serving as the main antagonist of 2019 Malaysian CGI-animated movie BoBoiBoy Movie 2. While he was claimed of being the "original wielder" of the elemental powers, but in reality he stole them all from the original elemental masters and attempt to do the same from Hang Kasa in order to make himself more powerful for self-serving reasons, making him an arch-enemy of his former childhood friend as result.
Hundreds of years ago, Retak'ka was abandoned in a dump planet named Gugura where he met with Hang Kasa and they became friends. Once they found Power Spheres where they gained their own powers, Retak'ka grew up into becoming more power hungry and greedy than ever before, leading him to attack the original elemental powers to steal their powers for himself before he attempt to do the same to his old childhood friend, which led to his imprisonment until years later after he was freed by the Crystal Miners, who agreed to help him in his quest on gain many elemental powers for him. After he attack the TAPOPS station and absorbing the four elements from BoBoiBoy, Retak'ka continued his quest as he attacked multiple planets by absorbing all elements there before moving on to Earth where he was defeated at the hands of BoBoiBoy Supra.
What he has done?[]
When he was young, Retak'ka was abandoned in a dump planet named Gugura by his parents where he met Hang Kasa and they quickly became friends. However, they later found two Power Spheres which they have given themselves a crystal and light powers for them, which made them grow stronger. Because of this, Retak'ka has grown up into becoming power hungry and greedy as he wanted more power for himself, which made him attack the five Elemental Masters that killed the four of them and seriously injured one of them before moving on to his former childhood friend Hang Kasa and attempt to do the same thing to him. While fighting in the outer space, Hang Kasa used his Crystal Trident and trapped Retak'ka on asteroid before freezing him in the crystal and using Ochobot to absorb all of his elemental powers, but not before Retak'ka transform into Gamma and fired a Gamma Blast on him, sending Hang Kasa and Ochobot away and leaving them floating in the space, thus separating them in a different ways as Hang Kasa later moved to Planet Quabaq and lived there while Ochobot is encountered by Adu Du and plans to use him for his powers. Despite this, all of the elemental powers are finally stored inside Ochobot while Retak'ka is left along getting frozen inside a crystal.
Hundreds of years later, Retak'ka was later found by the group of Crystal Miners where he was awakened and released from his imprisonment. After found himself inside the Crystal Miners' base, he was shocked of hearing about BoBoiBoy and TAPOPS and demanded them to help him find them for their safety or more crystals, which they later accepts. They later went to attack TAPOPS space station and Retak'ka demanded Koko Ci to tell him of BoBoiBoy's whereabouts, which unknowingly lures BoBoiBoy and his friends here. Retak'ka demanded BoBoiBoy to give him back "his" elemental powers, but BoBoiBoy refused and transformed into Blaze to fight him, but only to get easily overwhelmed. Despite this, BoBoiBoy splits into five as Thunderstorm, Cyclone, Quake, Thorn and Solar to attack him, but Retak'ka managed to withstand their attacks as he later absorbed his Solar powers when BoBoiBoy Solar fired a Solar Eclipse Blast at him. As he snatched Solar in his arm, Retak'ka mocks him for splitting because it only makes his elemental powers weak before he used the Gamma Drain on him, absorbed the rest of Solar powers to him. He later easily overwhelmed them and absorbed Thunderstorm, Cyclone and Thorn's powers as well.
Before he was about to do the same to the rest of BoBoiBoy's elemental powers, Gopal later rescued him so he and his friends could escape from him. Retak'ka transform into Darkwood and tried to stop BoBoiBoy and his friends from escaping, but they managed to escape to Quabaq through Ochobot's teleportation power. After leaving the TAPOPS space station, Retak'ka ordered Gogobi to blow it up, which he gleefully accepts and activates the bomb. Because of this, the TAPOPS space station is later blown up and almost killed Yaya, Ying, Fang and the other TAPOPS members if it wasn't for Captain Kaizo. When they arrived at Planet Gur'latan, Retak'ka began to absorb the planet's electrical energy before slaughtering the rest of Guruhan Army. They later moved to Planet Bayugan where he absorbed the storm energy, which forced the rest of inhabitants to evacuate with the help of TAPOPS.
While on their way to Planet Rimbara, Retak'ka was informed by Gogobi that Hang Kasa has sent him the location of BoBoiBoy to lure him to Planet Quabaq. Meanwhile, Yaya, Ying and Fang are helping the Rimbara inhabitants to evacuate their planet before Retak'ka gets here. When Yaya and Ying went to save the Cendawa baby named Cendamad, they were confronted by Retak'ka, but they managed to bring Cendamad back to his family for safety. While he absorb the planet's nature energy, Retak'ka attempt to stop the TAPOPS members and the Cendawa race from escaping until he was attacked by Yaya, Ying and Fang who wears the armory from ArmoBot, but he managed to easily defeated them with his all might and captured them all where he discovered the location of Planet Earth. While on his way, Retak'ka sent his former childhood friend Hang Kasa a video message, where he refused to go to Planet Quabaq after he discovers his trickery of sending him the location of BoBoiBoy to Planet Quabaq and revealing his plans to absorb all of the elemental energy from Earth before closing down his message.
As Retak'ka arrived at the Earth, Hang Kasa arrived here as well and attempt to trick him by pretending himself to be a helpless old man who tells him that he had a "stomachache", but Retak'ka wasn't fooled so easily as he was able to see through his trickery once again. Refused to wasting time with him again, Retak'ka transformed into Voltra and attacked Hang Kasa, which led to a fight between both former childhood friends after a hundred years ago. When Retak'ka is about to finish off Hang Kasa after he managed to overwhelm him, BoBoiBoy managed to escape from being trapped in a crystal with the help of Pipi Zola with an EggaBot and transformed into Blaze to save him. However, he was brutally and quickly beaten up before Retak'ka transformed into Darkwood to restrain him with vines and attempt to smash him into pulp with his large hammer, but a badly beaten up Hang Kasa managed to stop him from doing so. Hang Kasa later encouraged and comforted BoBoiBoy that he's much of a worth holding all elemental powers than Retak'ka, much to his fury of hearing this. Once after he told BoBoiBoy that he only used a single power to defeat Retak'ka, he was later brutally finished and knocks him unconcious before his crystal powers were absorbed by Retak'ka, which he transformed into his Crystal form.
However, hearing Hang Kasa and Retak'ka's statement has inspired BoBoiBoy into inventing a new technique called Elemental Fusion, which motivates him into using it to defeat Retak'ka by splitting into two as Blaze and Ice and merged themselves into FrostFire, easily managed to overwhelm him with his kickboxing fighting style, sending him to the bridge at the top of the dam. Jumping forward to the dam, BoBoiBoy FrostFire summoned Blazing Frost Arrows to destroy the Crystal Spikes, but only for Retak'ka to snatched him into his grasp and attempt to encasing him in a crystal. However, Gopal managed to activate Ochobot's Elemental Drain with the help of Hang Kasa and sending him down to FrostFire, allowing him to use him to absorb the Crystal powers back from Retak'ka. Enraged, Retak'ka transformed into Voltra and attempt to attack both FrostFire and Ochobot, but only for Yaya, Ying and Fang to stop him before he could do so and he was pummeled down to the ground.
Instead of just surrendering when he's down, Retak'ka became furious of being defeated at the hands of those "puny brats" and decide to take matters into his own hands by transforming into Darkwood and summon his vines to destroy the nearby dam to crush down BoBoiBoy and his friends. To prevent this from happening, BoBoiBoy split into two as Quake and Ice and merge into Glacier, creating Ice Gargantua which froze Retak'ka and the nearby dam as well, preventing it from being destroyed. Now with Retak'ka being frozen, Glacier used Ochobot to absorb all four of his elemental powers back, calling him unworthy of holding these kinds of powers. After Retak'ka became powerless once he lost all of his elemental powers, BoBoiBoy split into two as Thunderstorm and Solar and merging into Supra, thus attacking him with Supra Sickles and sending him above the sky. Supra then finished him off with his Super Supra Blast, thus defeating Retak'ka and sending him into an outer space where he was seen floating unconciously. Without Retak'ka, the entire galaxy is finally at peace as his quest and ambitions to gain all elemental powers for himself is now over.
Heinous standards[]
The BoBoiBoy franchise clearly has high heinous standards where most of the antagonists were a threat to the entire universe, especially on Earth or several planets, where some of them were hunting down Power Spheres for their powers while some of them are generally a threat. Let's compare with major villains.
- Adu Du: Don't get me started with this obnoxious braggart, okay? Following his banishment from Planet Ata Ta Tiga at the hands of Ejo Jo, he invade the Earth in order to obtain the cocoa from Earth and brought them all back to his home planet in order to become famous and rich once he was hailed as a "Hero" of the planet, but this doesn't happen once he defeated BoBoiBoy. Once he kidnapped BoBoiBoy Lightning, he and his minions are torturing him by taking advantage of his fear of popping balloons and doing it in front of him, causing Lightning to transform into Thunderstorm which Adu Du manipulated and "brainwashed" him into becoming his new minion and attacking his friends and even his grandfather as well. And that's not all, his role in the BoBoiBot story arc proves that he has gone too far when he used BoBoiBot to bully BoBoiBoy and ruin his life, but not before he extort the Rintis Island citizens into paying for their services and being responsible for BoBoiBot's attempting at flooding the entire Rintis Island.
- Ejo Jo: Aside from the fact that he was a cruel bully to Adu Du, he is clearly responsible for Adu Du being banished from Planet Ata Ta Tiga, thus starting the entire events of the original series as result. After discovering Adu Du's mission to obtain all cocoa from Earth and also the information about BoBoiBoy and Ochobot, he went to arrive at the Earth to obtain powers from BoBoiBoy and his friends and also Ochobot as well. He mercilessly has P.E.T.A.I. to destroy Probe in front of BoBoiBoy and his friends, even Adu Du is very saddened and broken over this which made him became depressed until BoBoiBoy and Gopal helped him revive Probe in comfort. He even endangers the rest of students of Rintis Island Primary School by having P.E.T.A.I. destroys it through drilling undeground and later kidnapped BoBoiBoy's friends, their classmates and even Papa Zola as well to held them hostage. Finally, he later used Fang's power band and use his powers to summon the Shadow Dragon and attempt to devour BoBoiBoy, his friends, their classmates and the others until he was finally finished.
- BoBoiBot: Yeah, this one's really made BoBoiBoy's live very miserable, so much. During his own story arc in the original series, BoBoiBot arrogantly showcasing his superiority over BoBoiBoy and easily defeated him in their fight and outwits him everytime they tried to compete each other which one's a better hero in Rintis Island, making him prove his point to the entire residents that he's better than BoBoiBoy. While he did helping the Rintis Island citizens, this is clearly out of pragmatism just to raise his popularity against BoBoiBoy and make his life miserable, as usual. But not only that, he was extorting the rest of citizens into paying for their services and later attempt to flood the rest of the Rintis Island before attempt to drown his former master as well.
- Bora Ra: Oh yeah... the franchise's very first PE in the history. It is mentioned that Bora Ra has captured many Power Spheres and murdering them in a cold blood before turning them into trophies for the Emperor for his conquest. During his invasion on Planet GogoBugi, he attacked both of Kaizo and Fang's parents for refusing to giving up EnerBot to him and attempt to do the same to them as well if it weren't for Maskmana, which caused a trauma to both siblings as result. During the movie, he captured Ochobot and later used him as a bait to lure out Klamkabot and captured him for his teleportation power, but only for him to extract it into Ochobot. Also, his torture on Klamkabot with a power sucking gate is portrayed in a vile manner. Once he discovered that Ochobot's the one who has the teleportation power, he mercilessly takes away the teleportation power from Ochobot, thus putting him in a painful situation. After that, he later destroyed a badly damaged Ochobot in front of BoBoiBoy just to break his spirits, which leading BoBoiBoy to gained his Blaze and Ice elemental powers to defeat him. Rather than giving up, he finally unleashed a Gargantuan Black Hole to destroy the entire floating island and attempt to leave BoBoiBoy and the others getting sucked into it, but not before he was teleported back here after Adu Du, Probe and Papa Zola tricked him with false coordinates to allow BoBoiBoy to defeat him once and for all.
- Captain Separo: Okay, he was clearly the starter villain of the entire BoBoiBoy Galaxy series. During the start of the series, he attempt to capture MotoBot from Koko Ci before BoBoiBoy, Gopal and Ochobot help them escape from him. When he returns back to Earth, he attempt to capture not just MotoBot, but Ochobot and Bellbot as well, and he almost killed BoBoiBoy when he almost fell into his death before he transformed into BoBoiBoy Leaf, which later led to his eventual defeat.
- Jugglenaut: As the leader of the Bad Dudes, he is pretty much responsible for Jokertu capturing many TAPOPS members including BoBoiBoy and his friends and then trapping them inside his cards as a distraction and Panto kidnapped BalloonBot, CementBot and FireBot, as well as being the bad boss to his minions and Power Sphere collections. Once BoBoiBoy and the others arrived at the Circus Planet, he attempt to crush all of them while also trying to capture Ochobot and have him as one of his Power Sphere collections.
- Captain Vargoba: Yes... the Big Bad of the season one finale of BoBoiBoy Galaxy and also another space pirate captain other than Separo. He is planning to attack Sunnova Station to gain more power and wealth for himself, but only to change his mind after BoBoiBoy and his friends infiltrated in his ship and take StealthBot from him. In an act of revenge, he sacrificed his entire fleet to distract Admiral Tarung while he invade the TAPOPS space station to destroy the rest of their spaceships, attacking BoBoiBoy and his friends, and planning to capture all Power Spheres from here including Ochobot whom he sought to use him for his teleportation powers. Finally, he unleashed the Magnetic Field Swing on all of them before finishing them all with Magnetic Field Explosion, and later crossed it by knocking BoBoiBoy away from the TAPOPS station into an outer space, almost leaving him frozen here if he didn't regained his Solar powers back.
- Emperor Reramos: The main antagonist of the Windara story arc of the second season who is the usurper of the titular planet. He took advantage of Kuputeri's absence over hundreds of years to conquer Planet Windara and enslave the rest of its people, including the adults of Kepaku Village as well, thus making their lives in despair and misery as result. After capturing Kuputeri and brought her to the palace, he reveals his plans to use the Signal Crystal to brainwash all people of Windara just for them to submit to him. But once BoBoiBoy and his friends defeat the Five Generals and the Kelkatoan Army, he finally decide to take drastic measures by summoning Karantular to finish them all, but only for it to be defeated by BoBoiBoy Tempest.
- Kira'na: The Big Bad of the season two finale of BoBoiBoy Galaxy and the one who lost her daddy after he was killed at the hands of Retak'ka during his invasion of Planet Gur'latan. Aside from being responsible for the war between Flame and Snow Tribes at Planet Baraju through Mister Pato, she later held the meeting with TAPOPS and planet delegates to used Mister Pato's robots to ambush and attack her in order to lure out BoBoiBoy and manipulate him into using his Thunderstorm powers to absorbed the power right back to her blade. After she take away the Voltra powers from BoBoiBoy, he has him, Gopal and Captain Kaizo to be hunted down by branding them as criminals and also imprisoning BoBoiBoy's friends, TAPOPS members and planet delegates inside the secret facility at Thunder Base. She manipulated Fang into joining on her side, all in order to spite and mock BoBoiBoy, Captain Kaizo and the others. During their fight, she almost caused BoBoiBoy to fell into despair after she spitefully mocked him over his role as the protector of the galaxy, until his friends and Hang Kasa comforted and encouraged him. However in the final battle, she attempt to finish BoBoiBoy and his friends with her full power until she was finally defeated and later redeemed herself out of guilt.
Retak'ka, on the other hand, is LITERALLY conquers the heinous standards of the entire BoBoiBoy franchise in no time, thus making him the most heinous villain to date due to his actions of draining many planets for his powers. Prior to the events of the franchise, he literally attacked all five Elemental Masters to steal their powers for himself, which led to him killing four of them while gravely injured one of them, before attempting to do the same to his former childhood friend Hang Kasa. Even after he was being imprisoned inside a crystal for hundreds of years, his actions would eventually led to a great impact on the entire events of the series, such as the formation of BoBoiBoy's gang after they received powers from Ochobot, Reramos took advantage of Kuputeri's absence by conquering the entire Planet Windara and rule it over with an iron fists, and Mister Pato starting a war between Flame and Snow Tribes at Planet Baraju under Kira'na's orders.
Hundreds of years later, Retak'ka finally released from his imprisonment and rallying the Crystal Miners into becoming his minions for his quest to obtain more elemental powers for himself. After finding out about BoBoiBoy and TAPOPS, he went to the TAPOPS station where he and the Crystal Miners are attacking there for the whereabouts of BoBoiBoy. There was a scene when BoBoiBoy and his friends are arrived there, you can see everything that the entire station from behind was destroyed very badly. I have an image right here to prove it. Very bad, right? Not only that, they're also attacking all of the TAPOPS members inside the space station, including Retak'ka torturing Commander Koko Ci by almost choking him to death and the others including Admiral Tarung are badly beaten. During the fight between him and BoBoiBoy, he later absorbed all of four BoBoiBoy's elemental powers with his Gamma Drain, and the absorption technique of his was really painful against BoBoiBoy's elemental forms. This was shown when it happens to BoBoiBoy Solar, he was seen screaming in pain when Retak'ka absorbed him into nothing, which was later followed by Thunderstorm, Cyclone and Thorn when the same thing happens as well. After BoBoiBoy and the others escaped from him through Ochobot's teleportation powers, Retak'ka decide to leave TAPOPS space station remained to be destroyed while also allowing Gogobi to blow it up by detonating few bombs Gogobi placed everywhere, thus causing an explosion as result which almost killed Yaya, Ying, Fang and the rest of TAPOPS from the inside if it weren't for Captain Kaizo.
Retak'ka went on several planets for him to absorbed all of its elemental energy for him to upgrade his powers, rendering them all to be drained and destroyed as result. When he arrived at the Planet Gur'latan, which was a nexus of electrical energy, he transformed into Voltra and absorbed all of the electrical energy from the planet, right before he slaughtered the rest of Guruhan Army, killing them all in no time. Yeah... there's another image where the rest of the corpses are lying around there, which there was a high kill count for him. Yeah... this is what led to Kira'na's fall to villainy in the BoBoiBoy Galaxy season 2 later on. However, he later moved to Planet Bayugan which was constantly battered by storms, where he absorbed all of the tornado to enhance his elemental power, thus forcing the rest of residents to evacuate. When he was planning to drain the planet energy from Rimbara, he ambushed Ying when he was about to rescue a baby from the Cendawa tribe named Cendamad, meaning that he would likely endangering a baby if it weren't for Yaya and Fang, but he didn't cared as long as he get what he wants. While he's draning the planet energy to upgrade his powers, he used his vines to ensnared the TAPOPS spacecraft where the Cendawa tribesmen are at the inside until he was stopped by Yaya, Ying and Fang who used the armory from ArmoBot.
And finally, he was planning to drain all of the elemental energy from the Earth in order to upgrade more of his elemental powers, meaning that Retak'ka's likely willing to commit omnicide because of this. When both he and Hang Kasa are arrived at the Earth, Retak'ka is perfectly fine of him willing to kill him just to get revenge on him for imprisoning him for a hundred years, despite knowing Hang Kasa's now an old man. Even when BoBoiBoy attempt to fought him, he is still attempt to crush him down with his log hammer, but before Hang Kasa sacrificed himself to protect him, which Retak'ka almost killed him for this before absorbing the Crystal powers from him. While fighting against BoBoiBoy FrostFire, he attempt to freeze him with crystals when he was in his grasp, but only to be stopped by Gopal and Ochobot before FrostFire managed to absorb his Crystal powers back. Even after BoBoiBoy's gang finally beat him, Retak'ka decide to take an extreme measures by transforming into Darkwood and using the vines to destroy a nearby dam to crush them all down before he was finally defeated at the hands of Supra once and for all.
Mitigating factors[]
Okay, his Freudian Excuse was that he was abandoned at the junk planet named Gugura when he was a kid and the only friend he ever had was his former childhood friend named Hang Kasa, where they always playing and hanging out together. However, this kind of tragedy was never brought up again later on as he became power hungry and greedy once he was grown up, while his actions of destroying planets and slaughtering people has nothing to do with his tragedy. Even if he used to have a redeeming quality such as when he used to have a good friendship with Hang Kasa, it was later subverted once he betrayed his former childhood friend and almost killed him and stole his Crystal powers for himself. Well, he has the same issue with King Magnifico and Drago Bludvist who they used to have tragedies in the past, but they never brought it up later on.
His "friendship" with the Crystal Miners are nothing but a boss-minions relationships, not a genuine friendship. While they did showing their loyalty to him, Retak'ka wasn't clearly doesn't cared them back nor showing concern for their well-being, as he forcefully threatened them to help him in his quest by choking Gogobi, showing apathy of them being defeated by BoBoiBoy's friends and mocked Gogobi for being scared of the Guruhan Army.
During the final battle with BoBoiBoy, him praising BoBoiBoy for his impressive skills is nothing more of a mockery rather than actual honor since he's still shown to have superiority complex over the others. Even after he betrayed him, he still called Hang Kasa his "old friend", but he only taunted him rather than showing an genuine care since how much he demonstrated that he no longer cares for him.
Throughout the rest of the movie, Retak'ka is always played dead seriously most of the time since there's nothing comedic moments revolving around him and his heinous actions is clearly played out of straight horror. The single "comedic" moment he ever has was Hang Kasa disguised himself as an old man who claims that he's having a "stomachace", but Retak'ka angrily doesn't buy it and went up straight to attack him, claiming he won't fall for it again, proving that he doesn't taken very well and is still taken seriously. So yeah, there's nothing redeeming about him.
Final verdict[]
Totally an easy keeper for this so-called "original wielder" of elemental powers, but no matter, take that, Unalaq.
