Hello there, everyone! Back with another PE proposal. This time, I'll be doing a proposal of Grimes from the 2021 CGI-animated Netflix movie Seal Team. Now that I have finished watching the movie, let's get it started, shall we?
What's the work?[]
Seal Team is a South African CGI-animated action comedy film that was first released on Netflix on December 31, 2021. It was Triggerfish's third full-length animated film. The film tells a story of a young seal named Quinn who has recently lost his best friend Benji to the leader of great white sharks named Grimes, which later motivated himself into forming a group of fighting seals to fight against the sharks and rescued all the seals from them after he was inspired by an elderly seal named Claggart who has recently rescued him from Grimes.
Who is he?[]
Grimes is a main antagonist of 2021 CGI-animated Netflix movie Seal Team. He is a leader of the great white sharks who leads them all in eating all the seals for sports and pleasure. He is responsible for Quinn forming a team of fighting seals after killing his best friend Benji in a cold blood, thus becoming his arch-nemesis as result.
What he has done?[]
When Quinn and Benji went to the great white sharks' lair to look for some food, they were frightened as they encountered their leader Grimes and attempt to escape from him, even doing the corkscrew spin. Quinn managed to survived but became shocked and devastated over losing his friend to Grimes, causing him to punch him in the face in anger. Enraged, Grimes went after Quinn and attempt to eat him until an elderly seal Claggart rescued Quinn from him, which would later inspired him to form a team of fighting seals to fight against the sharks.
After Quinn and his friends managed to defeat and capture a shark, Grimes was very shocked about hearing this, especially the fact that Claggart was with them. Decide to make an example of them, Grimes later gathered all sharks around the world through his remora fishes, leading them all to invade the seal island. When Quinn and his friends are spying at the sharks' lair, he put on Switch's Octo Suit to spy on the sharks where he overheard Grimes' plans to lead all sharks in eating and killing all the seals before his cover was blown up as the Octo Suit's effects wear off, which attracts the sharks' attention as result. Quinn tried to escape from sharks by releasing the ink all over them, but only for him to encounter with Grimes again until Claggart risked himself to fight against the sharks while Quinn is escorted away for safety.
Instead of giving up, Quinn decide to lead his team in fighting against the sharks together. When they infiltrate the sharks' lair again, they sealed all of the exits from the wrecked ship but Grimes managed to discover what they're up to. While Geraldo is left alone to close the last door off by himself, Quinn and his friends were trapped inside the container and Grimes taunt them that he and the sharks will ate all the seals before leaving them right here. But luckily, Geraldo managed to survive and help them escape. While they're fighting against the sharks, Quinn and all the seals are surrounded by Grimes and the sharks until Claggart returns with a backup, which happens to be Dolph who was brought back to the team. After the sharks were driven away by sardine cans, Quinn and all the seals get into the ship. However, Grimes later make one last attempt to kill Quinn once and for all, claims that sharks will always be at the top while the seals will always be food. Quinn courageously replied back by bites the rope of the name tags, sending Grimes falling back into the ocean and leaving him to be shredded into pieces by the ship's propellers.
Heinous standards[]
Now don't get me wrong, okay? While it may be a kids' movie, the heinous standards of the film are not that high since the rest of the great white sharks are just terroristic predators while the remora fishes are only aiding them all in their atrocities. However, Grimes is the only one who stands out as the worst since his plans to eat and kill all the seals are nothing but played for horror.
During his first appearance, he cruelly killed Quinn's best friend Benji in cold blood and keeping his metal name tags on his fangs as his sick trophy in order to mock him over his death in front of his face, something which devastate and traumatized him for the rest of his life. What's worse is that Grimes is planning to lead all sharks in eating and killing all of the seals, including children as well. By doing it, there are dozens or hundreds of seals to be killed, how shocking is that. Oh, and by gathering all sharks around the world, he's quite responsible for leaving four seals to get trapped on the rock with dozens of sharks until Quinn and his team arrived to save them.
Mitigating factors[]
Now since it was just a kids' movie, Grimes may be involved in comedic moments, but this was only happens whenever it comes with others like his minions or enemies and he never takes it very well. This means that none of these moments clearly detracting from how heinous and threatening he is and he's always played dead seriously throught the movie. While his death may seems to be comedic as well, this is much more of played for satisfaction rather than played for laughs, meaning that all of the seals will be safe from him and the great white sharks.
Another thing is that Grimes didn't even cared for his subordinates like the other sharks and the remora fishes as well, treating them like tools and pawns for his own plans. He also simply abused his subordinates by berating or threatening them if he doesn't get in his way or being interrupted as well.
Being a shark and a predator it is, we all know that most sharks are only hunting down for food and survival. However, Grimes only hunting down the seals for his own sports and pleasure, which was the actually his own motivation behind his villainy.
Final verdict[]
Let's give this shark Belos an easy yes for this.
