Now that this show's over (the finale fucking sucked don't @ me), here's a candidate that I... honestly did not expect to keep.
What's the Work?[]
Murder Drones is a black comedy YouTube series by Glitch Productions, centered around a galaxy several years post-Earth's destruction, with the main characters being edgy teen robot Uzi, as well as N and V, two robots programmed to kill her kind. But before they joined her side, their leader was our candidate for today:
Who's the Gal?[]
Serial Designation J was the leader of the Murder Drone trio seen in the show and a professional JCJenson glazer. But before that, she, N, V and Cyn were all Worker Drones themselves, and even then she was an asshole who made a drawing of telling N to kill himself. Living under the Elliot family as their maids, J tried to help the human girl Tessa and N stop Cyn from massacring the people at the mansion's gala, but... she failed and they all died, with J being hacked into helping.
As the leader of the three Disassembly Drones, J led the mass slaughter of humanity on Earth, ending with the whole planet blowing up. They would continue the mass slaughter on Copper 9, where the target changed from humans to normal Worker Drones, with the intentions of slaughtering them all. All while being a massive bitch to N, telling him she'd kill him if she was allowed to. When N finds and befriends a worker drone named Uzi Doorman, who makes him question JCJ and if their actions are worth it, J infects him with a virus and leaves him to die. As J and V prepare to slaughter Uzi's colony of drones, she and the redeemed N bust in to save them, ending with Uzi killing J.
However, due to her efficiency, J has been cloned several times and more or less resurrects in a new body. She seemingly teams up with "Tessa" to stop the Solver and Doll from accomplishing their goals... except it's revealed Tessa is Cyn wearing her corpse, and J knows this. In the finale, J teams up with the Solver/Cyn to achieve its goal of destroying Copper 9 because she wants to be on the winning side, and comes close to killing several characters, but she's ultimately defeated.
She's shown to still be alive in a post-credits scene, but since this was the series finale and not the season finale, not like it matters since we're not seeing her again.
Mitigating Factors/Freudian Excuse?[]
Several issues.
- Comedy - Yeah, there are several jokes with J, mostly about how she's a suck-up to JCJenson speaking in corporate phrases. But at the end, she's taken as a serious threat in-universe, especially in the finale.
- Moral agency issues - It does look like J was hacked by the Solver/Cyn to help her... but in the finale, she helps them fully willingly just to be the winner, so not an issue.
- Care for V/Remorse - Gonna take them on at once. In the finale, J does admit the Solver might've tricked her too, and genuinely offers V a chance to join her... but, when V refuses? J simply says she never needed her in the first place, and ultimately remains on the Solver's side so she can be the winner of the story, so this is not an issue.
- Care for Tessa - Genuinely an issue. In her backstory, J was genuinely friendly and loyal to Tessa, even helping her try to stop Cyn/the Solver. The issue is, J is fully aware that the Solver murdered Tessa, and is now literally wearing her skin on its body. It's not like, explicitly stated or brought up because of the finale's rushed writing, but I think the implications are clear enough with how it's been cemented J as a self-serving narcissist; That she genuinely doesn't care what the Solver did to Tessa, because she wants to come out alive and victorious.
Heinous Standard[]
The leader of the Disassembly Drones rampage around Copper 9, where they slaughter hundreds of innocent Worker Drones (enough to build at least one spire of their mutilated corpses), for the sake of letting the Solver blow up the whole planet without any resistance. Easy pass here.
Final Verdict[]
I overall lean towards a comfortable yes, but up to you. [Category:Blog posts]]
