LokiOmnicide

If this one scene right here isn't enough for this Loki to be upvoted, then what the hell is? What do you want from this show, an onscreen beheading? Mass infanticide? He knows full-damn-well that losing control of the Odinforce would destroy the entire universe...and he simply doesn't care. And that's not even getting into every other petty act he's done.

You call me liar? It is Odin who lies! How long did he keep the truth from us, brother?! It is Odin who slew my true father and stole me as a child only to treat me like a lesser being! But I am not a lesser being. Not anymore. The Odinforce is mine, and all the Nine Realms will bow down to me. Asgard, Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, Alfheim, Nidavellir, I have conquered them all. Jotunheim and Niflheim are mine to command. Only Midgard remains, and there's no one left to save it.
~ Such a chilling motive rant. Graham McTavish is a good voice actor In my opinion.

Greetings and salutations, true believers! Now, before we get started, I just want you all to know that I've got a shitload of Marvel candidates on my mind right now, and getting whitelisted has finally given me the opportunity to create their proposals myself while my friends are too busy with their normal everyday lives (no offense). Especially from this here work, which not only has three more good candidates but I think I might be the only fan of on this entire site. After those four proposals are done, I'll get started with some comic villains like Bullseye, Mephisto, Barracuda, and possibly a few others.

So while you can, getcha some snacks and drinks, go to the bathroom if you must, sit down, buckle up, lock and load, because I think it's gonna a good long couple of months before it's all finally over.

What's the work?[]

The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is an animated Marvel series that lasted two seasons from 2010 to 2012, starring an array of colorful superheroes who team up to save the world after 75 supervillains break out of four separate prisons all across the world. I personally really love it and think it's on part with the MCU as one of the best pieces of Avengers media outside the comics, and would definitely recommend it to any Marvel fan out there.

Who's Loki? What does he do?[]

Loki is Thor's adopted brother, whose true father was slain by Odin before he then stole him as a child. During the micro-episodes with Thor, Loki leads the Frost Giants to assault Asgard, killing countless people (you can see dead bodies across the battlefield if you pay close enough attention) before fighting Thor. During the fight, Thor tries to reason with Loki twice in an attempt to stop the fight peacefully:

Thor: I do not wish to fight you, Loki! Once we were brothers. We were friends! We fought side by side, as sons of Odin, together. It could be that way again!
Loki: You made your choice, Thor. Always the dutiful son. You chose to remain blind to Odin's lies. And for that choice, you will
suffer.
Thor: Surrender, brother. It need not be this way.
Loki: I think it does!

...but Loki doesn't give up and of course gets defeated. Odin punishes Loki by sending him to the Isle of Silence. However, this turns out to have been Loki's whole plan all along, as Odin wouldn't pay him any mind while Amora the Enchantress freed him. Afterwards, Loki somehow started a power outage at four separate prisons all across Earth, thus releasing 75 supervillains simply to distract Thor while he conquered the Nine Realms during the Odinsleep. He also had Enchantress form the Masters of Evil alongside Baron Zemo, trying to unleash an Asgardian invasion force onto Earth using the Norn Stones. Thanks to the Avengers, this plan fails, although at the cost of teleporting them to one of each of the Nine Realms. To be specific, Thor goes to Asgard, Hulk goes to Vanaheim and saves a bunch of rounded-up innocents from ogres, Black Panther goes to barren realm of Svartalfheim, Hawkeye goes to Alfheim where Elves are running away from wolves that killed their lord, Iron Man goes to Nidavellir armorless but still manages to kick Ulik's ass, Ant-Man and Wasp go to Jotunheim and meet Sif and the Valkryies after an encounter with the Frost Giants, and Captain America goes to Niflheim where he meets Hela (who claims to be Loki's daughter).

In the season 1 finale, he tortures Thor by pouring wine on his face and repeatedly blasts him with the Odinforce while he's restrained in a pillory, planning to behead him on the chopping block alongside Balder and Heimdall. When the Avengers come to save Thor, Loki effortlessly defeats them all before destroying Captain America's shield. When Iron Man (wearing Uru armor) comes in to save his team, Loki starts losing control of the Odinforce during round two with the Avengers, and how does he react when Thor points out that this will result in omnicide? With complete and utter callousness, and even outright sadistic glee:

Thor: Loki, you must keep the power contained. Without control, the Odinforce could destroy the Nine Realms. You could begin Ragnarok.
Loki: SO BE IT!!!

Thankfully, Giant-Man pulls Yggdrasil from its roots before that happens, thus draining the Odinforce out of Loki. Odin then suddenly awakens from sleep and punishes Loki by sending him to the Midgard Serpent. Loki makes his last appearance in the season 2 episode "Powerless", where he tries to kill Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hawkeye with the Destroyer armor while Enchantress de-powers them with her magic. He fails of course, and his soul gets sent back into his body forever to be tortured.

Mitigating factors[]

Tragic/Scapegoat?[]

Loki's kinda like Lotso and Koba in this regard. Thor: Tales of Asgard (which I'm not 100% sure is canon but I'll use anyway) shows that Thor and Loki were genuine brothers and childhood friends who fought together side by side as sons of Odin, who blatantly favored Thor over him. Not to mention the first part of the above quote, where it's mentioned that Odin murdered his father.

However, in the present day, all those redeeming/sympathetic qualities he had back then are long gone. Thor tries to reason with him multiple times even after he becomes a villain, but Loki refuses to redeem himself while he still can and instead just keeps holding onto his mindless hate for people. It's also never made clear if Loki wants to avenge his father or just his own ego, because from what little audiences can tell he hardly even knew his father. I recall that villains like Joffrey Baratheon, Lord Voldemort and the Penguin were approved under similar circumstances as well, agreeing all of those cases to be mere self-love than anything else.

Furthermore, although Odin gives Loki a nightmarish fate worse than death at the end of season 1 (sending him to the Midgard Serpent who drops acidic saliva into his eyelids for the rest of eternity), it's not treated as anything other than karma after he caused the Breakout, tortured his own brother and tried to destroy the Nine Realms. I know I sure as hell don't feel sorry for him.

Standards?[]

According to the Enchantress, Loki wouldn't dare associate with Muspelheim due to how dangerously omnicidal Surtur is. It's also worth noting that if one pays close attention to the representations of the Nine Realms in "The Fall of Asgard", Loki conspicuously leaves Muspelheim out of his schemes, implying that he fears Surtur even with the Odinforce on his side. However, this is clearly just pragmatism since he attempts omnicide later on anyway.

Loved Ones?[]

He's friends with Enchantress and has a daughter named Hela, both of whom clearly worship him. However, it's not really made clear if he actually cares about them or if he's just using them for his own ends (probably the latter given who he is). We don't even see Loki and Hela interact at all; we just know they're father and daughter when the latter says it outright.

Heinous standard[]

It's not even a contest. Loki is by far the most evil character in this entire show, and the reason why its heinous standard is so high. Throughout his screentime, he assaults Asgard with the Frost Giants, orchestrates the mass-breakout of 75 supervillains from four separate prisons, brutally conquers most of the Nine Realms while putting any and all dissidents in chains, creates the Masters of Evil, and directly attempts omnicide, all without any hint of remorse whatsoever. His torture and numerous attempted murders of his own brother are also a nice little touch of cruelty, and it's even mentioned in "The Casket of Ancient Winters" that he resurrected Malekith, who uses the titular casket to nearly freeze the entire Earth. At least Ultron has a screwed cognition as an excuse.

Final verdict?[]

Yeah. The Avengers wouldn't even exist if it weren't for Loki, and he repeatedly endangers all the Nine Realms simply to prove himself as Thor's better. That's not tragic, that's just pettiness. His ultimate fate by the end of the show is well-deserved.
