~ Lilith |
I've been going back over the Supernatural PEs and after re-examining the heinous standards of the series, I have strong doubts about this character qualifying. Granted, the show was originally going to end at season 5, but later seasons have skyrocketed the heinous standards to the point that this discussion is warranted.

What's the Work?[]
Supernatural is a fantasy drama series centered around Sam and Dean Winchester, two brothers who act as hunters, people who in secret fight supernatural beings which are not publicly known. They initially start out simply fighting monsters such as vampires and werewolves, but as the seasons go on the plot escalates to apocalyptic threats such as the Devil himself and even God.
Who is Lilith? Why Doesn't She Count?[]
You can read the original proposal by Percival C. McLeach here.
So there are two main issues with Lilith qualifying, the first is that she is generally shown to get along with the demons that work for her, in contrast to most powerful demons in the series who abuse their henchmen, suggesting affability, although I'll admit this is rather minor. But the much bigger of the two issues is that Lilith doesn't meet the heinous standards. First of all, Lilith freeing Lucifer does not necessarily mean the world is going to end, this is evident by the fact that Lucifer could have killed every human if he wanted to, since he at one point had Death bound to him, but didn't, instead making him cause chaos across the world such as natural disasters. Lucifer's return was never about killing all humans, it was about him facing his brother Michael. Dean claims in season 4 that Lucifer's battle with Michael will destroy half of the planet, and this seems to be supported up until we finally see Lucifer and Michael fight in season 13, and their battle doesn't even destroy the room they are fighting in, which proves the claims that they were going to destroy the world are not true. Now, Lucifer being unleashed could certainly lead to a lot of people dying, but not the end for humanity necessarily. But you could argue that Lilith thought Lucifer's rising would bring about the end, but even if that's the case, villains with lower resources have crimes that are on par with this:
- Dick Roman in season seven, is the leader of the Leviathans, who takes over the country with the plan to drug all of humanity and turn them into a cattle feeding source for the Leviathans to endlessly feed on. His apocalypse goes beyond humanity, as the Leviathans begin putting chemicals in humans that cause other monsters, such as Vampires and Werewolves, to die if they eat humans, thus making Roman responsible for multiple genocides on top of his horrific plans for humans. He's also a terrible boss, literally eating Leviathans that fail him or forcing them to eat themselves, in comparison to Lilith who is shown to treat her demonic servants relatively well. While Roman is powerful due to his nigh-invincibility and army of Leviathans, he has no magic abilities and can be overpowered by a regular ghost, whereas Lilith is the most powerful demon in existence and has an army of demons behind her as well. Not to mention Roman has significant personal villainy with Sam and Dean, framing them as mass murderers and later killing Bobby, their adoptive father.
- Abbadon in seasons eight and nine, one of the Knights of Hell, who Sam and Dean manage to overpower using a bullet with a devil's trap etched into it, thus trapping Abbadon in place after she is shot with it. They attempt the same trick to trap Lilith in season 15, but it doesn't work, proving Lilith is more powerful. Abbadon attempts to head a demonic invasion onto Earth that will cause the apocalypse, killing countless humans and angels. Lilith may eat children, but Abbadon reaps souls before their allotted time in order to torture more souls and fuel her demon army, and Abbadon has personal villainy with Sam and Dean due to killing their grandfather as well as with Crowley due to torturing his son in front of him. Abbadon does all of this despite being a weaker demon than Lilith.
And once again I need to emphasize, while Lilith lets Sam kill her in order to free Lucifer, we aren't told what the exact effects of Lucifer's release will be, other than just having it be called an "apocalypse". Even if Lilith did genuinely believe she was killing all of humanity by letting Sam kill her, Dick Roman wanted to turn all of humanity into cattle for the Leviathans and genocide every monster species as well so only Leviathans could eat humans, therefore making the scope of what he wanted to do greater than Lilith as her threat is only ever stated to apply to humanity. Abbadon wants to launch an invasion of Earth which will cause a fate worse than death for the humans killed, as she wants to torture their souls in order to add them to her demon army. "But doesn't Lilith eat babies" ...yeah? That doesn't really mean a lot in this show, plenty of monsters eat children. And Dick Roman was totally fine with drugging every child and adult into becoming fat and docile so the Leviathans could feed on them. Plus Lilith has very little personal villainy, whereas Abbadon and Dick Roman both kill a family member of Sam and Dean, as well as Abbadon torturing Crowley's son in front of him. So overall she probably could qualify if the show had ended at season five like it originally was going to, but later villains of lesser power managed to raise the heinous standards too high for her.
Final Verdict[]
Cut, she's a pretty nasty demon in the first five seasons but later villains who are less powerful raise the heinous standards by attempting or committing equal atrocities that are equal or worse than anything she ever did, and her crime of eating infants, while horrible, is very standard for a series with plenty of monsters that target children.
