Who Is He[]
Mensch Heit is the main antagonist of Ultraman Neos. He is a being that was born from the dark matter as well as the arch enemy of Ultraman Neos and the Zamu aliens.
What’s The Work[]
Ultraman Neos is a direct to video series produced by Tsuburaya Productions as well as the 15th entry in the Ultraman franchise. The story focuses on Genki Kagura and Ultraman Neos as they face off against monsters created from dark matter with the help of HEART as well as another Ultra named Ultraseven 21.
What Has He Done[]
Believing himself to be the will of the universe/the dark matter and deeming the Zamu aliens as “barbaric” and unworthy of living, he merged several other dark matter monsters to create Grall and had him commit genocide on their race, forcing the few remaining survivors into seeking refuge on Earth.
After this, he later made his appearance known to humanity, in which he issued a warning demanding that they hand over the last remaining Zamu alien Esura or else he would release Grall and have him destroy them. While the leader of the defense force considered it, the defense force team members of HEART weren’t as willing and instead chose to protect him. Later Neos showed up and succeeded in managing to defeat the monster, but at the cost of nearly loosing his life.
With Grall defeated and HEART refusing to give into his demands, Mensch finally decided to reveal his true form and started attacking and trying to wipe out humanity (I feel it’s worth mentioning that upon revealing its true form, HEART noticed how he looked exactly like the the typictions of the devil made throughout the history, implying they were actually depictions of him). Eventually, Ultraseven 21 and Neos joined the battle. however, even with the two helping each other, Mensch still managed to overpower them and tried burning them alive.
Just as Mensch was gonna win, Esura showed up and scarified himself in order to recharge the two Ultras, allowing them to gain the upper hand.
Heinous Standard[]
Since he never crosses over into the world of M78 , he doesn’t have to be compared to the villains of that universe. However, even putting that aside, within his own universe, he definitely sets the standard, the big reason being him successfully committing genocide on the Zamu alien race as well as nearly killing Neos and Seven 21 and briefly trying to wipe out humanity when they refused to give into his demands.
in comparison to the other monsters in the series, most of them are mindless mutated creatures driven angry and crazed/beserk as a result of the dark matter and are pretty standard. With the Zamu aliens, they are portrayed as anti-villains who never try to do anything too heinous and are mainly just trying to go back home.As for the dark matter itself, it’s really more of a force of nature and energy substance that causes mutations , rather than an actual sapient/sentient character. The only one who comes close is his monster minion Grall. However, since all of its acts were done under Mensch orders, he doesn’t really stand out.
Mitagating Factors[]
None. While he was created from the dark matter, he is different compared to the other monsters made/mutated from it as rather than it controlling or influencing him, it’s the opposite, with him being in full control of his actions and him controlling it instead. I should also bring up that despite King Bamos (another monster created from the dark matter) being one of the other dark matter mutants to manage to also retain control of himself , Bamos still chose to be good while Heit chose to be bad.
Throughout the show, he proclaims himself as the embodiment of the will of the universe and the dark matter itself and the ultimate life form, with him at one point arrogantly claiming he had the right to make whatever future he desired. Additionally, he also justifies his genocide on the Zamu aliens by claiming them to be “barbaric”. However, the series itself as this point had presented them as for the most part reasonable and understanding (most notably the first Zamu alien whom requested Neos kill him if his experiment with the dark matter made him turn beserk and go out of control and the last one Esura whom sacrificed himself in order to help Neos and Sefen 21 defeat Heit). While the second Zamu did attack Neos, she didn’t know their leader wanted him to kill him and genuinely thought the humans and Neos had ruined her people’s chances of retaking their home.
Couple this with the fact that he made Grall as a savage and brutal monster and that he himself is portrayed as sadistic and arrogant (an example of this being him letting out a smug sadistic laughter when threatening the defense force into giving Esura to him or he would commit genocide on them as well and him later trying to kill Neos and Seven 21 in a very cruel way by burning them alive), Mensch is a complete and utter hypocrite and basically just a xenophobic tyrant with a god complex trying to justify his genocide of the Zamuians by projecting his own barbaric ways onto them.
Final Verdict[]
Im gonna give him a yes but what do you think.
