Going back and forth on this one for a while now. I believed her to not count at first thinking her possible preventions may have held up, but after re-reading the arc she's in, I've concluded that she's nothing more than a sadistic bitch. Let's get into it.

What's The Work?[]

Gakkou Gurashi (known in America as “School Live”) is an anime and manga series that’s basically “clickbait” in a way. The show looks so innocent and couldn’t possibly have a bad egg, right? Sorry to say this but you’re absolutely wrong as the show gets dark fast, in fact it’s a horror show. It follows the School Living Club having to inhabit themselves on school grounds and protect each other as a zombie apocalypse occurs within the school.

Who Is She? What Did She Do?[]

Ayaka Kamimochi is a major antagonist in the franchise as she serves as the central antagonist in the University Arc. She’s a sadist who takes pride in murder and gets a thrill out of it when the zombie apocalypse arrives after claiming her life is boring, and sees this as her world, chosen by god to survive within it.

The moment the Zombie outbreak occurs, she's led by Takihito and joins his crew to up her chances at survival, however even before the apocolypse she was already blood thirsty and wanted to kill humans. Though she is trying to survive, she takes sadistic pleasure in killing the zombies and gets excited at that prospect, knowing the zombies were humans at one point in time before the outbreak happened. Her tendencies to want to kill humans, and even though she only succeeded at three she intended to kill more, which we'll dive into soon. You also might be thinking that her crimes were done under orders, which a fair share of them were, but I truly believe she stands out enough by being the most sadistic even more so than the leader of the crew she's in. I'll discuss that more in Migitating Factors to prove my points.

She had a friend who would walk home from school with her every day who later saw Ayaka as a love interest, they were friends but Ayaka killed him without any remorse, and this isn't the first time she was willing to kill people she knew of to ensure survival and she's like this down to the very end of her lifespan. She also gets angry at the fact that the School Life Club allied with the Fallen Crew and assumed because of an interaction with another one of her team members, Sino, that one of the groups was trying to recruit her as an asset, all because she's a powerful asset to Ayaka. Back to the murders, she's not above killing her own friends if it meant she was gonna make it out of the Zombie Apocolypse alive, she would allow them to get affected by the zombies to ensure survival once more. This has her teammates afraid of her, with the exception of Takihito, even Aki left the Melee Fight Crew because of Ayaka's sadism, the moment that crossed the line for Aki was when she caught Ayaka smiling at a graveyard of zombies. She also killed another member of the group just for a cheap thrill and it's implied that she helped kill the other members of the group with the exception of Sino.

She will also do anything to destroy the other groups, again for the goal of survival. When in the University's Library she and the rest of the Melee Fight Crew confront Rise, she throws a cigar at her and points a crossbow when interrogating her and ties her up when the intergation's over under Takihito's orders. The remaining members of the Melee Fight Crew decide to capture three other people, Kirai, Touko, and Aki threatening Kirai's life if any of them make a noise, she also captures Yuuri and Ruu and later stomps on Ruu which makes Yuuri upset.

At first, it seemed like she cared for Sino, advicing her in the zombie apocolypse, she was nothing more than a tool for Ayaka to survive. She herself said no one should survive in the University without a trace and didn't care if Sino died in the apocolypse, this was after Ayaka acting concerned for the safety of Sino, and this led to Sino cutting her off. Now that there's one person left in her group, that being Takihito, soon enough he gets infected by the zombie apocolypse and turns into a zombie. Since her orders were to kill as many zombies as possible (by Takihito) when she realizes this, she without hesitation sounds the alarms when he releases the zombies behind a locked gate all to kill her former leader. Although a catalyst has been caused as a result of both of their actions, Takihito offers to survive with Ayaka, the two of them together and no one else. Ayaka kills him, although Sino launched the first attack against him, Ayaka made things even more brutal by pushing him off of a roof as he got stabbed, his head got cracked open and the body is burnt.

She nearly gets away with all of this too, getting in a van leaving the University and everyone who's still alive to die, believing the world is a beautiful place and only exists for her, the van breaks down and the zombies attack her, and she gets infected. You might be asking why she's so blood thirsty in the first place and it's cause in her normal school life she believed it was boring, but the zombie apocolypse made life more thrilling for her, and she believed that she was immortal and god chose her to survive.

Migitating Factors[]

Now there's no doubt about her being evil, but I will go over some things that could lead her to not qualify. Let me explain, what could prevent her is the fact that a lot of the stuff she did are her following orders, however she's obviously the most sadistic member of her group even more so than Takahito who's already an asshole. She did love killing humans and zombies alike before her death, but the problem lies with the fact that she killed her own leader when he said that the two of them were chosen to survive, showing she never truly cared for him.

That's one major issue out of the way, time to get with something that is debateable, that being her status with Kougami. She does have a part of her that joins the militant groups in an effort to avenge Kougami, but she also asks Rise if she has ever experienced the loss of a loved one. However, here's the catch, as Kougami was killed, she grins as she assumes that the main heroes did it, and she raises the question about the grief of losing a loved one in order to divert the Circle members. I'm not sure if she comes across as manipulative and disproportionate at that one.

Even though she first seems to care about Shinou, I'm not sure if she genuinely cares about Kougami until the moment with Shinou, when Ayaka declares that she detests "dead eyed losers" and says she doesn't give a shit about revenge for what happened to Kougami, but enjoys the world for what it is. So, I'm still undecided on this. As for her relationship with Takahito, despite her first demeanor toward him and her apparent compassion for him, she killed Takahito without hesitation after he became infected and proclaimed herself to be the chosen one.

You can see why it's possible she doesn't qualify, but the orders were given to kill all the zombies by Takahito, as Ayaka herself points out when it's revealed he got infected by the zombies. However, her killing the humans and killing the one who gave those orders were all her doings, she was never ordered to kill any human, just zombies. However she only kills 3 humans as far as we know and has a higher body count with the zombies, but knowing her she'd definitely want to kill more, and for what reason? Why because she was bored when school was normal of course, but when the zombie outbreak occurred, she became a sadistic bitch with no regard for anyone's life.

Verdict?[]

I'm gonna say yes she counts, but if you believe she fails the standard still, cause her boss doesn't qualify for Pure Evil himself due to the fact he does care for the people he grouped with, Ayaka on the other hand doesn't one bit.
