"I always remain Pure Ev- oh nevermind."
Heya Villains Wiki! Welcome to my first removal. So, I'm guessing a total of zero people expected this to happen, I mean purple guy was thought to be a PRIME example of a Pure Evil candidate, but it's been discussed he may have a redeeming quality that just barely prevents him from being this status, and I mean barely, I'd consider it to be pretty minor overall honestly.
If this removal does get approved, it would be a shame to see the man behind the slaughter himself lose his pure evil status, but meh. It's 100% going to cause mass riots and people will be screaming that William Afton has to be reproposed as Pure Evil for a fact thought, this already happened with Harley Sawyer, imagine what would happen if Afton himself was removed. I suppose it's time to see if William Afton, or Purple Guy, or the man behind the slaughter, will be removed.
Permission given by ShockwaveDude120. Let's begin the removal!
What's The Work?
Five Nights at Freddy's is a horror video-game franchise created by Scott Cawthon. It needs no introduction, being one of the most popular games of all time. All you need to know is that we'll spend some night-shifts at Freddy's (and most of the time not five nights there despite the title).
Who Is He? What Has He Done?
William Afton is the main antagonist of the franchise.
His main backstory is pretty unknown, but at one point he had three children, Micheal, Elizabeth and Evan, or Dave, let's just call him CC (Crying Child). He later formed a partnership with Henry Emily and made a pizzeria called "Fredbear's Family Diner", which includes robotic animatronics. The pizzeria proves to be a success, and due to this, they release a second pizzeria called "Freddy Fazbear's Pizza", and it eventually turns into a full-on restaurant chain.
Afton later murders Charlotte Emily for no reason, causing the latter's spirit to possess The Puppet. A long while later, during CC's birthday, Mike and his friends play a tiny and small prank on CC that leads into him brutally dying. Afton does not care btw. Later, Afton murdered the five children. Their souls possess the robots after. Freddy's later closes down and Afton opens up a new restaurant themed around a brand new animatronic, Circus Baby! Which was made to kill children... Elizabeth, William's daughter, is killed by it, so Afton just shuts it down and blames it on the classic gas leaks. Damn those gas leaks!
Afton then hides Baby and all of the Funtimes underground and has them tortured for years and continues to kill children. Hooray. Later, William tells Mike to go down to the rental facility to put Baby back together and free her. Micheal dies in the process, because Baby and the others want to leave. He comes back though yay!! Oh and Afton goes back to the original location and destroys all of the animatronics. This releases their souls who chase Afton, he puts on the spring bonnie suit and BOOM gets springlocked to death take the L bozo.
But he's still alive and was stuck for 30 years. Afton is now Springtrap. Some guys later come and use him for an attraction for their location. Then the place burns to the ground and he's still alive somehow and he becomes Scraptrap. He later gets lured into a new Freddy's location to kill more children with his daughter and some others. It's a trick though and the other souls are put to rest and presumably reside in Heaven now. Meanwhile Afton dies and then Golden Freddy refuses to let him die. Golden Freddy tortures him as revenge in Ultimate Custom Night. Then Old Man Consequences tells them to let Afton die.
It's unknown what happens to him after but he's probably still alive because he always comes back. In all seriousness he's probably dead though.
Why Doesn't He Qualify?
Heinousness is NO issue for William, he's the big bad of the franchise who killed several children and is the most heinous character in the franchise, definitely setting the Heinous Standards of the series and nearly all of the characters fail the HS to him. But William has a minor redeeming quality, which would be his care for his daughter, Elizabeth Afton.
The main issue with his care for Elizabeth is the whole electric shock thing, Afton knows Baby is being tortured in there, but here's the thing: we're never specifically told when he actually found out Elizabeth was possessing Baby, this means that he could've just never known Elizabeth was possessing Baby during the time she was being tortured. For all we know, he could've learned and then immediately sent Micheal down to find her right after he learned. All we know is that he eventually did learn due to him sending Micheal down. At the end of Sister Location, Micheal reveals he was told by William specifically to go there to "put her back together", although this is pretty vague, it's pretty clear William's intent was to have Elizabeth freed from the rental facility.
Furthermore, it has been shown that the possessed animatronics are extremely dangerous in FNaF world, and that the electric shocks are one of the only ways to calm down them. Also, Elizabeth was forgetting things such as her own name and tried to kill Micheal, thinking he was William, despite obviously loving the latter, so the shocks were necessary. Additionally, Henry did the exact same thing to his daughter, shocking her, trapped her inside Lefty and made her perform on the stage in Pizzeria Simulator, yet he has still shown to care for her extremely deeply.
Another issue with William's care, is Pizzeria Simulator, William never interacts with or acknowledges Baby/Elizabeth once during the game, but that doesn't imply that he no longer cares for her. He and Elizabeth are pretty much focused on murdering people rather then having a talk, so it's clear William isn't just subverting his care for Elizabeth here, he's just more focused on killing at the moment, which is a weird thing to say honestly.
Also, some people have argued that William grooms Elizabeth into becoming a serial killer, but I do not think this is the case, Elizabeth says "I will make you proud, Daddy", in the Pizzeria Simulator, which makes it sound like she herself has chosen to go through with this path to make William proud.
If you remove these, William's relationship with Elizabeth seems rather genuine, he warns her not to go near Circus Baby so she wouldn't have her life risked and sends Micheal down to free Elizabeth from the rental facility. Their interactions and relationships are CERTAINLY vague, but with what we got and what we've seen, we can make the assumption that William does hold some genuine care for Elizabeth and thus cannot be someone listed as "Pure Evil" as a result.
Final Verdict?
I'm leaning towards a weak cut for Afton, but it's up to you.
