Jonas in the original comic is an abusive husband with a sadistic hatred for animals who grows increasingly obsessed with torturing, killing and stuffing animals while tormenting his animal-loving wife over the acts, when she adopts a stray cat he kills it, stuffs it and tortures his wife again with it but this finally backfires for the psychopath and he is murdered by his wife, who he finally drove to insanity, she proceeds to stuff him just like the animals but sadly completely loses her mind shortly after.in the TV series events are less brutal and Jonas is instead a man entering retirement who grows more and more upset with his wife, who obsesses over her many pets, he then decides to kill and stuff all the pets, even going as far as tormenting her with a remote-controlled stuffed version of their dog.. he then intends to kill a stray cat they had been housing but unlike in comics the cat survives as his wife finally snaps and kills her insane husband, she then stuffs him and mounts him on his chair, where a horrified neighbor finds him as the episode ends.

All in all he murders dozens of animals, some of which are his own pets (as mentioned before) - among them are several pigeons, geese, at least three dogs (one of whom he turns into a remote-control "toy"), several mice and in comic he also gets the cat.. in TV show the cat survives but the other animals are not as lucky.. so while he never harms a human he is serial-killer in regards to animals with at least a dozen or more victims under his belt.

Tales From the Crypt is incredibly dark but each story is treated as its own thing so technically he sets the heinous standards for his own story.

Jonas-comic

Jonas in his original incarnation as a "sadist supreme".

Jonas-TV2

proof that even in his "tamer" incarnation Jonas is still the worst..

today I bring a new proposal and one from a medium I didn't expect to be making a PE for, Tales From the Crypt..

introducing: Jonas (Tales From the Crypt)

The Work

Tales From the Crypt is a television series based on horror comics of old, in fact many episodes are retellings or re-imaginings of such comics - often the show treats horror as a kind of morality play where the protagonist is a horrible person who ends up suffering a horrible fate as punishment for their misdeeds.

Who Is He / What Has He Done?

Overview of Crimes

All in all he murders dozens of animals, some of which are his own pets (as mentioned before) - among them are several pigeons, geese, at least three dogs (one of whom he turns into a remote-control "toy"), several mice and in comic he also gets the cat.. in TV show the cat survives but the other animals are not as lucky.. so while he never harms a human he is serial-killer in regards to animals with at least a dozen or more victims under his belt.

Heinous Standards?

Tales From the Crypt is incredibly dark but each story is treated as its own thing so technically he sets the heinous standards for his own story.

Migating Factors

none - even if TV version is played slight more comedic it is dark as mud and you don't feel anything but disgust for him, his reasoning in comic is sheer sadism and his reason in the TV show is just that he doesn't like the fact his wife pays more attention to her pets than himself.. neither of these remotely excuse what he does.

Verdict

as Magma noted on a Discord discussion on this guy "animal cruelty is a special kind of evil" and Jonas takes that up to eleven.. even in a show full of horrible people who get horrible (thought often deserved) fates Jonas goes the extra mile since he kills, mutilates and stuffs innocent animals, including his own pets.. especially when in comic he does it purely for sadistic glee.. in TV series he also does it for incredibly petty reasons.. namely he was upset his wife cared for her pets over him.
