Following a discussion involving several admins and mods, the rules regarding how the Antagonist Scale works have once again been updated. If you want the full information for how it works now, check the Villains Wiki:Antagonist Scale page, but to give a brief overview of the changes that have been made:
- The only terms that will be used now will be main, secondary, major, supporting and minor (the Antagonist Scale page gives information for how each of them applies). As such, terms like "central" or "opening" are no longer permitted, and we urge our users to change each of them to the appropriate term on whatever pages they may find them on.
- The phrasing "antagonist faction" or "antagonistic faction" for organization and species pages is no longer allowed. Instead, simply "antagonists" (plural) should be used instead.
- "Roles" sections are no longer allowed. If a villain occupies varying roles over many different installments or arcs in a franchise (more than three), the role they occupy overall should be the only one that's used.
- Terms like "mentioned antagonist" or "posthumous antagonist" are no longer allowed. If a villain who's part of a larger franchise is mentioned in an installment or dead by the time that installment takes place, that's not something that is necessary to mention in the opening paragraph. If it's the only installment the villain has a presence in, "minor antagonist" should be used instead. If the villain is the overarching antagonist of the installment despite being dead, "overarching antagonist" should be used.
