Very good guy, i promise.

Hello everyone! This should be my first proposal off the villains wiki on Pure Evil. I've got this villain from an underrated series of games. Yeah it's spoilery, but hey, if the game sounds fun, i think you should check it out. Thanks for Shockwavedude120 for letting me do this one!

What's the work?[]

The World Ends With You is a series of action rpgs (really just two + an anime adaptation) made by Square Enix. Set in Shibuya part of Tokyo, the two games take place in the UG (underground), an alternate place in existence where souls interact against reapers to hold Reapers' Game to hold the resurrection of someone.

NEO: The World Ends With You is the sequel to the first game and it's "A New Day" side content. Taking control of Rindo Kanade, he suddenly enters the Reapers' Game without dying this time, and alongside Tosai "Fret" Furesawa and Nagi Usui, they both form a team called the "Wicked Twisters" to go against the other existing teams on the game to gain enough points, not get erased, and win the game.

Most of the villains of the past game don't count cause of either redeeming qualities, insufficient actions or being mindless. However, while for the most part this game follows that same pattern, there is one guy that stands out.

Who's Tanzo Kubo? What has he done?[]

Tanzo Kubo, played by his excellence Xander Mobus, is seemingly the obnoxiously entertaining right-hand of Shiba Miyakaze, the Game Master of the Reapers' Game. However, it turns out he's actually an angel (a more powerful being than the reapers) deemed as "The Executor" who seeks to Inverse -erase- the section of Shibuya in Tokyo.

Hired by Hazuki Mikagi to "cleanse" Shinjuku, he would infiltrate the reapers from there and manipulate them, particularly corrupting Shiba and convince him that he was the Executor, to turn on Tsugumi Matsunae's brother, who was the Game Master off Shinjuku. He would be responsible for both Tsugumi's soul being ripped from her body and trapped inside her plushie Mr. Mew, as well as destroying Shinjuku itself.

Coming to Shibuya along the other reapers to hold the Reapers' Game, he would plan to destroy it as well due to being an "overachiever" in Hazuki's words. He would play alongside the Reapers and holding the illusion of the Ruinbringers team being made of players, when it's actually composed of Reapers.

Since he can't directly erase the town with his powers himself, he gave Rindo time travel powers to acquire Noise every time he would go back in time, accumulating up until whenever he wanted. Otherwise, he would serve in the game as the master of the noise, occasionally being a nuicance to the Wicked Twisters. On Week 2, Day 7, when Shoka Sarukane showed that she was aiding them to overpower the Ruinbringers, Kubo would convince Shiba to denounce her from being a Reaper and have her targeted for erasure should she fail.

On Week 3, he would make a new type of Noise called Plague Noise, that it was capable of infecting both reapers and humans in the RG as well as UG, causing them to become apathetic, violent, and eventually causing the removal of their soul. He sends this to multiple people on Shibuya, and to Ayano Kamachi (Shoka's sisterly figure off the Reapers) and Kanon Tachibana (the Veriabuties leader) their soul gets destroyed and transformed into noise. Before he could make any more damage, claiming that he was seeking an inversion with his noise, Sho Minamimoto seemingly "kills" him.

However, on Week 3 Day 7, he would reveal himself after Shiba's defeat under the hands of the Wicked Twisters, sadistically liberating the noise accumulated on Rindo's pin and having it destroy everything, including the city and players of Shibuya, to be destroyed, revealing to Rindo that he helped him to destroy Shibuya. Rindo goes back in time to prevent his friends getting killed knowing that it would accumulate more noise, and tries to convince both Reapers and other players to help him, but he's unsuccesful, and the noise comes to destroy Shibuya again, as well as all his friends and Shoka.

Laughing all the while, Kubo destroys his pin to prevent anymore time looping that would prevent it. However, he would be soon exorcised by Hazuki, which would erase him from everyone's memories sans Rindo, apologizing about Kubo's actions on his behalf, as well as giving him another chance to timeloop and stop the noise from his pin once and for all.

Redeeming Qualities?[]

Even before revealing himself as an Angel, Kubo was a jerk to even his fellow Reapers, showing no real care besides smack talk and seemingly only following besides Shiba. However, that part was a lie as well cause he was manipulating him. Nothing about his relationship with Hazuki is given like, anything besides that he's an "overachiever". So yeah, nothing that should imply care for anyone besides his work of destroying cities.

Heinous Standard?[]

While the other villains of the games like Joshua Kiryu try to erase Shibuya as well, Kubo is about the same on his powers, and manages to do things on his own by aiding the Reapers Game that erases muliple people, creating noise that plagues people, and hell, manages to destroy the city multiple time with his noise, all the while managing to kill off two major characters due to his actions and is almost succesful on destroying the city, all the while displaying sadism of his actions, i think he stands out.

Veredict?[]

I would say yes. Nyeh-HEH!
