PE Proposal: Paul Serone

I was going to make a Christopher Walken joke, only now did I figure out this is a different actor.

April Fools Day has passed, back to being serious.

What's the Work

Anaconda is a 1997 natural horror film and the first installment of a film series starring large Amazonian boas that have a taste for fresh human meat.

Who is Paul Serone and what he's done

Once a Paraguay priest, Paul Serone has decided to become a snake poacher. Never really explained why, maybe it's for greedy purposes. He's after a large record-breaking anaconda in the Amazon that if found and captured, he will be rewarded a million dollars.

He first encounters a documentary team trying to locate a tribe on the Amazon river. He offers to help them if they help him with his request in capturing the massive anaconda that he's been tracking. None of them trust him at first, but soon respect him after he saves Cale when he is stung in the throat by a wasp. Once Mateo the boat skipper becomes the first victim of the anaconda, Gary makes Serone the captain as long as he helps them make their escape once the anaconda is captured. Big mistake. It turns out that Mateo, Serone, and the guy during the opening of the film who shot himself to escape the snake were working together to bring the documentary team to the anaconda's territory. The only problem is that he has no bait to lure in the creature. However, the twist is that Serone does have the bait. THEM.

When the anaconda returns and attacks Gary, Serone willingly lets the snake eat him and prevents the others from shooting it as he can't profit off a dead animal. Realizing his true intentions, the team tie him up. Later, while the remaining team winch the boat lose from a waterfall, Denise attacks Serone to avenge her boyfriend, only for Serone to strangle her with his legs before throwing her lifeless body overboard. When the snake comes back, Westridge is killed and Terri shoots the anaconda in the head, killing it. Serone attacks Terri only for Cale to stab him with a tranquilizer and be pushed into the river by Danny.

Serone soon finds his way to catch back up and ties up Terri and Danny, dumping monkey blood on them as bait for the giant anaconda, all while mocking their impending deaths. It comes and while it constricts the two, Serone catches them in a net only for the snake to break out. Serone immediately tries to escape the vessel but the anaconda strikes at him. Danny uses another net to trick the anaconda into coiling and swallowing Serone whole.

After Terri and Danny make their way and find the anaconda's nest with its newborns, it regurgitates a twitching Serone, who manages to give a taunting wink to Terri before dying almost immediately.

Mitigating Factors

Yeah... no. This guy cares nothing about the team and is solely driven by his own greedy desires, not even showing any sort of remorse after Mateo, his partner in crime, is killed by the snake. While he shows some affability at first to the team, he's just manipulating them into trusting him just so he could trick and use them as bait for his anaconda hunt. As for that scene where he saves Cale from choking on a wasp, it turns out that Serone intentionally placed the wasp into his scuba tube. There's also the part where he flirts with Terri, but it comes off as perversion as he's willing to feed her to the anaconda as well.

Heinous Standards

Several human antagonists exist within the Anaconda series, but Serone stands out as the meanest of the bunch. As for the Anacondas themselves, while the film makes them look like goddang savages that would spit out their consume prey just to eat them again, there are some parts that show that they are still using their basic predatory instincts. Serone is using the instincts of a psychopathic hunter, and boy does he takes sadistic thrill doing so.
