GravAndRanakProposal

Remember what I said with old men being hellspawn? (Deag Grav on the left, Deag Ranak on the right.)

After the proposal deluge has been cleaned up some, it's time to get back to work with another Doom themed PE Proposal. In addition, this is my first dual proposal I made, so that's worth noting, eh? This proposal is for the two main Hell Priests, Deag Grav and Deag Ranak, from Doom Eternal.

(BTW, if you wondering why I didn't add Deag Nilox to this, he does too little in his run-time.)

What Do Deag Grav/Deag Ranak Come From?[]

Deag Grav and Deag Ranak both hail from the Doom series, which has a lone space marine known as Doomguy/the Doom Slayer brutally take battle against the demons of Hell in an effort to help save humanity from their threat. In Doom Eternal, the sequel to the 2016 reboot of the series, our hero comes to aid of Earth, who are in a losing battle against the demons and their allies, these allies including the Order of the Deag, and with it, Deag Grav and Deag Ranak.

Who Are Deag Grav and Deag Ranak?[]

Let's talk about each of them individually, just to make things easier.

Originally a simple member of the Order of the Deag, Deag Grav was the first to bring the attention of demons to Khan Maykr following him sending Doomguy to his arena. Following his own corruption and a false promise to revive the Betrayer's son for the man's aid to conquer the treacherous Night Sentinels, Deag Grav is also at fault for corrupting the poor soul to be used to revive the Icon of Sin, damning him to be used as a weapon of mass destruction. Deag Grav also became the master of Sentinel Prime, arranging fights against unlucky humans with demons to boost his troops' morale and for personal entertainment. Overseeing Earth's invasion, Deag Grav is first seen with Deag Ranak preforming a ritual to help speed up their plans, only to be stopped and having to flee by both Deag Nilox's demise and Doomguy's plan to end them. We finally reach Deag Grav himself as the last Hell Priest to kill, found inside Sentinel Prime. Deag Grav both warns that his death will cause Doomguy to be rejected and attacked by the Night Sentinels (a threat that falls on deaf ears) and unleashes the Gladiator on Doomguy. Following its demise, Deag Grav is rendered vulnerable by the medallion, and after he gloats of Earth's surefire destruction, Doomguy uses his Super Shotgun to turn his head into meaty confetti. Following this, Doomguy must flee Sentinel Prime due to his hostile former friends, and soon heads off to face Khan Maykr himself to end her plans.

Now for Deag Ranak, possibly the more evil of the two. Also a member of the Order of the Deag, Deag Ranak was one of the original researchers of Argent, and like the other Deags in the game, was corrupted by Hell. Like Deag Grav, Ranak also had a instrumental role in causing only the Night Sentinels loyal to Khan Maykr to live by spear-heading a deadly ambush that eventually left all treacherous Night Sentinels dead (barring Doomguy). Before this, he was the one who got in contact with Olivia Pierce to plan the first attempt to invade Earth, making him the cause to many around the world to perish. Later overseeing a UAC base in the North Pole, he also toyed with the various demons to create many cybernetic horrors, including his personal Doom Hunters. After the failed attempt to speed Earth's invasion, Deag Ranak, despite his superior numbers and cybernetic advantage, had his troops felled and himself given a haircut from the neck up after trying to bargain with Doomguy by giving him power and knowledge.

Freudian Excuse? Mitigating Factors?[]

None for either. Deag Grav is a heartless arena master who betrayed the Betrayer and also wishes to make a being capable of destroying the universe, sends humans to die just for kicks, and is partially responsible for the Night Sentinels' massacre. Deag Ranak is worse, as he is responsible for the deaths of billions around the world, also helped in the end of the good-hearted Night Sentinels, and sadistically toys with demonic and cybernetic forces to make mangled monstrosities.

Heinous Standard?[]

While Doom is no stranger to evil, in the reboot timeline, these two along with the mentioned Olivia Pierce and Khan Maykr stand out for being responsible for the near end of the human race, and being truly evil compared to other figures in their universe (Such as them not being a species/group incapable of being PE, not being mostly brutish monsters, or having heroic elements like Samuel Hayden.

Conclusion[]

These two definitely earn their spot among the PEs of Doom, don't you think?
