Uther is a major antagonist in the 2020 action role-playing fantasy game, Genshin Impact , serving as the main antagonist of Chiori's story quest: Cisoria Chapter: Act I - When They Talk About Tonight.
He is a Clothing Manufacturer and the former business partner of Chiori. Envious of Chiori's success, Uther would make it his mission to tarnish her reputation through media defamation and illicit means.
Biography[]
When he was young, Uther wanted to become a popular fashionist. He also had a friend named Chiori who wished to achieve the same goal. Together, the two made an effort to become fashionistas. However, their designs were constantly rejected.
Eventually, Uther lost hope and gave up while Chiori remained determined and pressed on. Eventually, Chiori managed to find success upon moving from Inazuma to Fontaine. Angered over Chiori becoming successful, Uther made attempts to sabotage her business, pestering her constantly. He eventually did start a fashion shop of his own, but he still hated Chiori.
One day, he pushed Chiori so hard that she straight up attacked him. However, this was what he wanted her to do. He had somebody from the sidelines take a picture of Chiori "assaulting" him and he then made an article claiming Chiori to be an overly violent person who gets her materials from an underground workshop, causing her clients to begin abandoning her. However, not everybody is fooled by the slander. Chiori's closest friends stand up for her, and Charlotte makes it clear that the Steambird would never publish something like that and is looking for the one responsible. Chiori, quickly figuring Uther to be the one behind her predicament, goes to his shop with the Traveler to find out that he has some financial struggles. Even worse, it turns out he had been cutting corners with his designs and in fact had been using an underground workshop with materials ill suited for fashion as the clothes would not just shrink, but heavy usage would cause serious skin damage.
Finding Chiori and the Traveler, Uther tells them he has no intent on leaving them alive while complaining about how he was unable to make it into fashion design and that is why he hates it and wants it to be ruined. Chiori shuts him up by reminding him that he quit when he had the same potential as her, even telling him that he could have become successful if he kept trying. Seeing how he had opted to not only cut corners to make ends meat along with try to ruin her business in order to justify his hatred, Chiori loses all respect for Uther and promptly takes him down before sending Clorinde to arrest him.
