My sacrifice will be a rallying cry to those who value logic above all.
~ V'latak's last words.

V'latak is an antagonist who was introduced in the Star Trek: Discovery episode "Lethe".

He was portrayed by Luke Humphrey.

History

V'latak was a young Vulcan who became a member of the Logic Extremists - a group of Vulcans who were opposed to the direction of Vulcan society and Vulcan's participation in the United Federation of Planets. As a member of this group V'latak wanted to see Vulcan reject outside influence and the Federation, which he called a failed experiment.

In late 2256, he infiltrated Ambassador Sarek's staff. When a Klingon faction put out peace feelers, Sarek decided to meet them on Cancri IV. V'latak accompanied Sarek on his mission. As they passed a nebula V'latak injected himself with a compound, which turned his body into an explosive. As the explosive consumed his body, V'latak told Sarek that he hoped their deaths would end the peace talks and rededicate Vulcan to logic.

Sarek was seriously injured in the resulting explosion, but was later rescued by Michael Burnham.
