Vice President William Baines, better known simply as VP Baines, is the secondary antagonist of the first season of Netflix's 2025 animated action fantasy series Devil May Cry.
He is the corrupted Vice President of the United States of America, as well as the religious and zealot leader of the demon hunting organization known as DARKCOM. He is responsible for the White Rabbit's villainy.
He was voiced by the late Kevin Conroy in one of his final roles. Ian James Corlett will be voicing Baines for the ongoing seasons.

Vice President Baines is at first shown to be a reasonable and fair authority figure, who wants to assist on hunting demons with the help of the Dark Realm Command organization also known as Darkcom. He is shown a few times to be religious and, like any person, saw the demons as not only a threat to the world but to God himself. However, despite being a reasonable, religious and fair authority figure, Baines actually holds alternative motives and is in fact a hypocrite, he wants to exploit demonic power to help achieve his goals while killing random demons at sight and does not care if he kills an innocent. Additionally, Baines does not care for the lesser demon refugees as he places them in the same category of the more evil demons. He even orders his subordinates to kill them as he views the idea of demonic refugees as contradictory to the more stereotypical image of a demon.
For all his talk about God and preparing humanity for a "holy war", Baines does not care about any human he works with as he only sees them as a stepping stone to achieve his goals. This extends to his subordinates as well as he views them as tools for him to command. Lieutenant Mary Ann Arkham is a good example of this as Baines respects her skills and knew he was in good hands when he was nearly attacked by a demon yet he compares her to a dog while expressing concern over her loyalty. Not only that, Baines is associated with Arius, CEO of the Uroboros Corporation. Baines doesn't seem to be loyal to his President because, in his own words, he makes most the decisions with the President listening to him.
When it came to Dante to being a hybrid of demon and human, Baines has a more prejudice view of him since he called Dante's blood to be "tainted." Though he offers him a chance to "redeem" himself towards God, he tells Dante that he needs to choose a side and view him as dangerous.

Baines appears to be a middle-age man with white hair, he wears a blue suit that has the American flag pin on it and a red tie with white stripes over it. Throughout the show, he often wears a pair of gloves and red sunglasses.
Powers and Abilities[]
As the Vice President of the United States, he is the one in control of the government. As leader of DARKCOM, he commands all Devil Hunters within the organization.
