Vacuubot is the main antagonist of the Love, Death & Robots episode "Automated Customer Service".
Appearance[]
Vacuubot is a small white cube-shaped robot that has its body open up to reveal certain gadgets, such as a face in the center-front with a red eye, a vacuum in the bottom left, and an arm in the back.
Biography[]
A futuristic retirement community called Sunset City exists with robots built to do the busy chores of elderly retired citizens. Jeannette owns a small house-cleaning robot called Vacuubot, that vacuums around her house. While harmless, Vacuubot soon shows signs of aggression, such as chasing after her Bichon Frisé and forcefully moving a photo in a certain place against Jeannette's own decision. When the dog growls at Vacuubot when it moves the photo after Jeannette looks away, it attacks the dog, trimming the hair on his forehead.
Jeannette decides to call customer service, who requests she turn Vacuubot off and on again. When she leans towards ti, Vacuubot tasers her, activating its "Purge Mode". Vacuubot opens two large panels that emit immense energy, causing Jeannette's fish to burst. Terrified, Jeannette hides in the bathroom as Vacuubot attacks her collection of animal statues. Whilst hiding, the customer service attempts to convince Jeannette to sacrificing her dog as a way to safely deactivate Vacuubot, but she refuses.
Once Vacuubot corners her, Jeannette throws a towel over Vacuubot and seemingly deactivates it. However, this triggers her home's security function as the Vacuubot was "attacked". This sends the Vacuubot into "Security Mode", though Jeannette manages to temporarily distract it by throwing her laundry on the floor. Fortunately, Jeannette's neighbor Bill, hearing her struggle to open the door, arrives to her rescue by pointing his shotgun at Vacuubot.
Vacuubot fires its tasers at Bill, knocking him out, but Jeannette catches his shotgun. She ducks when Vacuubot fires its tasers at her and shoots it, destroying the machine. The customer service tells her that Vacuubot added her and Bill on the termination list of every robot in the city. Jeannette rejects the customer service's offer to get on the whitelist and escapes on a golf cart with Bill and her dog as an army of robots chase after them.
