~ A common line Vakten-Valen mentions.

Vakten-Valen is the main antagonist from the 1990 Swedish animated short film Exit.

He was voiced by the late Helge Skoog, who also did the voice for Ture Björkman in The Tale of Skrotnisse and His Friends.

Personality[]

Vakten-Valen is shown to promote happiness at the palace whom he works for. He always has a grinning expression and rarely breaks his smile. The only time he does so is when Åke tries to leave through the exit while still having tokens, in which he hisses angrily and immediately grins again. He also had a tendency to laugh often. He threatens people who are not happy, as well as using his revolver on anyone not following the rules.

Biography[]

Vakten-Valen is a guard of the happiness-themed palace Åke and his friends went to. He first appears to be friendly, encouraging Åke to have fun and even showing him some tricks he can preform. But, is later revealed to be evil, with him both using his revolver to threaten Åke, and to kill a beggar asking for some tokens from Åke. He is shown to stalk Åke throughout the duration of the short film, making sure he is happy and doesn't escape.

When Åke spends all but one of his tokens, he encourages Åke to spend the last one on a slot machine. The slot machine hits a jackpot and Åke is devastated as tokens roll out of the machine, but he just laughs as the credits roll.

Over the course of the short, he gradually gets larger in size, and wears more medals, signifying the power he has over Åke.
