~ Valentina |
Valentina, also known as Lady Valentina and Queen Valentina, is a major antagonist in the 1996 SNES video game Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and its 3D remake, serving as the secondary antagonist of the sixth Star Piece arc.
Appearance[]
Valentina wears a white dress, has what appears to be a parrot on top of her head in place of hair, and is always seen carrying a martini glass.
Biography[]
Valentina took control of the Nimbus Land region by forcing her minion, Dodo, to impersonate the land's true prince, Mallow. She imprisoned the true king of Nimbus inside the palace, and told the citizens that he was very ill. She had 'Mallow' propose to her, allowing her to become queen upon marrying the prince.
Mario, with the help of Garro, enters the castle as he pretends to be Valentina's statue order. Once they enter, Valentina looks at a statue of herself and praises her beauty, but she noticed another one that has nothing to do with her. Garro explains its a gift he made and explains the meaning of it. Valentina thanked Garro.
As Garro left, Valentina ordered Dodo to take statues into her room. Once he does, Mario tries to leave, only to be almost discovered by Valentina, who ordered Dodo to polish statues.
Mario then runs to his spot and the mini-game plays where he must dodge Dodo. Two outcomes can happen, if Mario gets caught, Dodo will report him to Valentina but she doesn't believe it and threatens that she will take his feathers for her pillow if he speaks nonsense. The mini game resets, and if Mario gets caught again, he will fight Dodo, but he succeeds, Dodo will leave.
After it's done, Mario wonders around the castle.
Once he managed to find Valentina, Shy Guy reports him and Valentina tries to escape.
Afterwards, Valentina is seen in front of castle where citizens question her, much to her annoyance. She pushes them away, but Mario and his allies catch up with Valentina, upon which she calls Dodo to help her "entertain" Mario.
The boss fight happens where Mario alongside chosen allies must defeat Valnetina and Dodo. Once she gets enough, Valentina tells Dodo to grab her and they flee from Nimbus Land. With Valentina out of the way and her dropping the proper key, Mario and his allies were able to release Mallow's parents out of captivity, and they reclaimed their right to rule Nimbus Land.
If one was to go back to Booster's Tower on the balcony, Booster is shown proposing to Valentina. At first she refuses, but then she changes her mind when one of the Snifits whispers to her what Booster said. Valentina thought it was a sweet thing to say and gets closer to Booster. In the pre-credits sequence, they appear to get married in Marrymore, though Booster seems to change his mind and flees at the last second.

Super Mario Kun[]
Valentina appears in Super Mario-kun as the main antagonist of chapter 13 of volume 51. But in this case, her plot for the Nimbus Land throne, she runs an illegal toll for the royal bus stop, asking for 100 quadrillion coins per passenger. Outraged by it, Mario and his group protest, and Peach continuesly insults Valentina by calling her old lady and triggering her into fighting Mario and his party before Peach gets a change to hit Valentina in head, causing Valentina to be much more kinder and ends up hugging Bowser and asking if she is still beautiful.
Personality[]
Valentina has been shown to be an extremely bossy and domineering person who seems to treat her henchmen and just about everyone else around her with as little respect as possible. Despite the blatant disrespect she shows toward her underlings (especially towards Dodo), as well as the apparent hatred they have toward her (as shown in Birdy's Psychopath), they still remain loyal to her regardless. Valentina also thinks a bit highly of herself, believing herself to be beautiful beyond compare, as well as a refined "art buff". However, she seesm to respect Garro and even if he got her something she does not desire she appreciate it, even when he left she admired it.

Trivia[]
- "Marugarīta" in the Japanese translation literally means "Margarita" (a type of cocktail, most likely because of the martini glass she holds, as well as a Spanish feminine name).
- The Player's Guide of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars misspells Valentina's name as "Valentia" at one point.
- Outside of battle, Valentina is about the same size as Mario. During the battle, however, she is several times the size of Dodo.
- Valentina can cast 9 magical spells, the most out of any boss in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
- The parrot Valentina has on her head resembles Squawks the Parrot from the Donkey Kong Country series.
- Valentina has several changes her official art lacks: Such as smaller mouth, bigger chest, more humanoid body and parrot's wings are more of a hair.
