Valerie Da Vinci is the overarching antagonist of Illumination's 8th feature film Despicable Me 3, the third installment of the Despicable Me franchise.
She is the newly appointed director of the AVL (Anti-Villain League) after Silas Ramsbottom announced his retirement.
She was voiced by Jenny Slate, who also portrayed Dawn Bellwether in Zootopia, Harley Quinn in The Lego Batman Movie, Zoe in Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, and Mona Lisa Saperstein in Parks and Recreation.
Biography[]
Despicable Me 3[]
After the film's opening scene, she is first seen entering the AVL meeting room while Silas Ramsbottom is announcing his retirement. He introduces her, and before he can finish his speech, Da Vinci becomes impatient and fierce fully shoves him down into the podium. After he is gone, she angrily asks who is Agent Gru, in which she blames him for letting Balthazar Bratt get away (as he was the AVL's most wanted villain) and Gru tries to justify it, saying that he was very close and that Bratt failed to steal the diamond onboard the ship.
Valerie disregards Gru and fires him anyway. Lucy then steps up to her, saying she will have to go through her if she wants Gru fired. They then both get kicked out of the AVL airship and lose their jobs.
She is later seen in a daydream Gru is having about stealing the diamond back from Bratt's Lair where she apologizes and passes out with Gru and Lucy getting their jobs back. However she was not seen again after this and it is currently unknown what happened after.
Despicable Me 4[]
It is unknown what happened to her in the fourth movie, as it's revealed that Silas Ramsbottom had become the head of AVL operations once more. It is possible that she got fired for her selfishness and arrogance when she wrongfully got Gru and Lucy fired because she doesn't believe in "second chances or another time for a better strategy".
