Valkyrie, also known as Kisara Nanjō, was one of the eight deadly fists of Ragnarök, being the eighth and newest fist.
Summary[]
As a child, Kisara was given a black kitten named Noir that died protecting her from an attacking stray dog. Inspired by Noir's sacrifice, Kisara joined a Tae Kwon Do dojo to become strong enough to protect herself. One day, she overheard an opponent she defeated admitting that he "let" her win against him because she was a girl, shattering her pride. Kisara quit the dojo and became a street fighting delinquent in search of battles where the stakes would be high enough no one would risk holding back on her. During this time, she joined Ragnarök and served under the third fist Freya, but refused Freya's suggestion to use a weapon, wanting to prove her own strength was enough to compete with men. She eventually climbed high enough in the rankings to form her own faction with her own underlings and competed with another high-ranking member, Shinnosuke Tsuji, for the position of the eight fist.
When Kenichi Shirahama defeats Tsukuba, one of Kisara's underlings, she orders the latter to leave town as punishments and begins sending out Ikki Takeda, Kōzō Ukita, and Taichi Kōga, her three of her top underlings, to find Kenichi and bring him to her to force him to join Ragnarök under her. However, Kōga is defeated when he tries to ambush Kenichi and Ukita and Takeda are also defeated in a separate encounter, with Takeda even leaving Ragnarök after Kenichi saved his life during their fight and Akisame, one Kenichi's masters, begins restoring Takeda's paralyzed arm.
With the technique trio's failure, Kisara then sends Tsuji after Kenichi, who defeats him thanks to his greater fighting experience, though Kenichi is rescued from being brutally injured with help from Takeda and Kensei, another one of Kenichi's masters. Kisara is later inducted as the eighth deadly fist and this angers Tsuji, who wanted the rank for himself, and he confronts her. However, Tsuji is defeated before they can fight by a surprise attack from a much-improved Kenichi, who misunderstood the situation and was completely unaware of Kisara's identity. Kisara reveals her identity to Kenichi and leaves after dismissing him as weak and warning him Ragnarök will soon punish Takeda for leaving the gang. Later that night, Kisara fights a rival gang of 50 alongside Hermit and Loki, defeating them with ease.
When Kisara launches a surprise attack on Takeda for his punishment, Ukita turns on her as well and sides with the latter. Even though the two defeat most of her subordinates, she easily defeats them herself and leaves them helpless against the rest of her gang. Fortunately, Kenichi and Miu arrive to save them and while Kenichi fights her underlings, Miu fights against Kisara knowing Kenichi refuses to harm women. Kisara is quickly angered when she sees how shapelier Miu is compared to her and attacks, only for Miu to easily defeat her and knock her out. The unconscious Kisara is carried away by her underlings when Niijima arrives with his own gang called the Shinpaku Alliance and defeats the rest of Kisara's underlings. As punishment for her defeat, Hermit orders Kisara's faction to suspend all activities while he deals with Kenichi.
Angered by her defeat and humiliation by Miu, Kisara ignores the order and plots revenge. When she hears Miu is cast as Juliet in her school's play of Romeo and Juliet, she plans to interrupt the play with the rest of her gang as payback. However, Kenichi gets in her way and defeats most of her underlings single-handedly, though he refuses to harm Kisara because she is a woman. Angered and reminded of her previous humiliation at her old dojo, Kisara attacks Kenichi, who only guards and refuses to fight back. She believes his attitude towards her is sexism, but Kenichi clarifies he is not trying to demean Kisara and is only following his code of honor. Realizing Kenichi's resolve, Kisara loses her motivation to keep fighting and leaves in frustration.
After the fifth fist Siegfried's defeat at Kenichi's hands, Valkyrie attends a meeting with the remaining fists where Odin lifts her faction's suspension. When Hermit also returns and declares he is going to defeat Kenichi, Kisara notices that Hermit has never been so rattled by an opponent and he will likely kill Kenichi the next time they fight.
When both Hermit and fourth fist Loki are defeated in battle against Kenichi and former leaves Ragnarök, the fists hold another meeting to discuss the Shinpaku Alliance's growing opposing. Kisara calms down the seventh fist, Thor when he grows impatient and reminds him that the eight fists are forbidden to fight each other. When Thor is later defeated by Kenichi and convinced to quit Ragnarök, he is punished by the remaining fists and beaten. As he's beaten, Thor criticizes that Ragnarök uses fear to control its members while the Shinpaku Alliance are actually friends with real loyalty. Kisara is threatened to join the beating lest she get the same punishment and she participates with minimal effort while noting Thor was right, planting doubt in her allegiance.
She later finds a stray kitten and begins taking care of it in an alley since her home doesn't allow pets. Kenichi and Miu catch her caring for the kitten and due to the latter's love of cats, they form a truce to care for the kitten. However, Freya's subordinates the Valkyries, a team of female weapon users, discover this and brand Kisara a traitor. They ambush her Kisara while she's along and Kisara is unable to fight back while protecting the kitten, leading to both her and the kitten to getting injured. Kenichi and Miu arrive, and the latter takea the kitten to a vet while Kenichi tries to rescue Kisara from the Valkyries. Since Kisara is too injured to keep fighting and Kenichi refuses to attack women, the two are soon cornered, but are saved when Shigure, one of Kenichi's masters, arrives and sends the Valkyries running by shredding apart their weapons and clothes using nothing but a wooden spoon. Afterward, Kisara apologizes to Kenichi for the trouble and breaks into Ragnarök's base to officially announce her resignation to Freya and her intent to defeat her before escaping. The next day, Kisara learns the kitten is unharmed and was adopted by a family. Despite being disappointed in not being able to care for the kitten, she accepts the situation. When Kenichi remembers that he had forgotten to tell her and Miu that they could have adopted the cat and taken care of it at Ryōzanpaku, they prompt punish him by holding him down and tickling him.
Having broken their ties with Ragnarök, Kisara and her faction are declared traitors and targeted for punishment by the remaining fists. Sensing Ragnarök is going to launch a final attack soon, Niijima approaches her with an offer to join the Shinpaku Alliance. Niijima tries to blackmail Kisara into joining with several embarrassing pictures of her fawning over cats, but Siegfried, who also joined the alliance, destroys the blackmail material and instead bribes Kisara into joining by presenting her three kittens that she could keep at his house and visit anytime. Unable to resists Siegfried's offer, Kisara caves in and accepts, especially after Niijima reveals Berserker, the second fist, is on the move to wipe them out. The newly combined forces throw a celebration, but after heading home, they are ambushed by Ragnarök. Kisara and Miu are attacked by Freya and her Valkryies and Kisara decides to fulfil her challenge to Freya and fights her alone while Miu handles the Valkyries. Though Kisara struggles against Freya's mastery of staff techniques, she manages to defeat Freya by copying Miu's movement and throwing a kick that breaks her staff. Unable to keep fighting with the pointed remains of her staff without serious risk, Freya concedes and acknowledges Kisara's strength before leaving with the defeated Valkyries. Despite her victory, Kisara's injures from the fight keep her from joining the final battle as she has to wait in the Ryōzanpaku infirmary.
Personality[]
Kisara has a tomboyish personality and shows no mercy to her adversaries. She has a great deal of pride and seeks to prove herself just as capable as male martial artists, refusing to take up a weapon while serving under Freya because she believed she didn't need assistance in keeping up. She hates being treated differently an opponent because of her gender, seeing it as an insult to her efforts. She also is self-conscious about her small bust size and grows jealous and angry when she meets someone with a large breast size.
Kisara has a deep love and obsession over cats, showing a softer side to her personality she tries to hide from others. This obsession extends to the point she can be bribed with cats.
