“ | The ethos of the Valravn Corporation is perfectly illustrated by its two mottos. The first one, Óðinn á yðr alla, translates from Old Norse as "Odins owns you all", an ancient Viking battle cry that reminds warriors that all lives and deaths ultimately belong to Odin and are bound to Fate, thus freeing them both from the fear of death and the guilt of killing. The second motto, "We feast on the battlefield", alludes to the carrion-eater nature of corvids. As long as War keeps birthing spoils and battlefields, Valravn will thrive and reap the fruits of the killing fields. You never lose at war when war is what you sell. |

“ | Me? I'm just HR. But we, as a whole, are the Valravn Corporation. Let me tell you a story. A long time ago there was a bloody battle. Details are irrelevant, the important thing is that both armies suffered heavy losses and many fierce warriors fell that day. So who really won the battle? The crows. The crows fed from the corpses and grew strong. They became warriors themselves. We like to think we are like those crows. It doesn't matter who wins the battle, we always win when there is war. | „ |

“ | I'm not proud to say that I ran. I've been a soldier my whole life, but them — they weren't soldiers. They were warriors. To fight wasn't just their job — it was their life. It was who they were. They came and they won, and there wasn't anything anyone could do about it. It was just a fact of life, some force of nature maybe, an unstoppable one. And we were far from unmovable objects. | „ |
~ A Chaos Insurgency operative about Valravn in "Walküre". |
“ | The Valravn Corporation. Christofascists, nationalists, spineless dogs, all joined together in the name of profiting from war. I have a low opinion of mercenaries; I have an even lower opinion of Nazis. | „ |
~ Pierre Gauthier about Valravn in "Site-7: DAEMON". |
Valravn Corporation is a recurring group and occasional deuteragonist in the SCP Foundation series. It is an anomalous private military company that rents out personalized armies of mercenaries comprised of trained war veterans who are equipped with paratech weapons.
The company plays a role in the "Ninth World" canon.
History[]
Valravn Corporation officially began operating around 1940, but it was suspected to actually be the successor of the Jomsvikings, a legendary order of Viking mercenaries from the 10th and 11th century. Whatever its true origin may be, Valravn Corporation became a prominent faction in the anomalous world hidden behind the Veil of Secrecy, taking part in wars by assisting the side which was rich enough to pay it. Valravn would utilize enhanced soldiers and paratech to take down its client's opponents, not caring much if those it fought were terrorists or innocent groups which were only fighting for their rights.
This led to Valravn coming across other Groups of Interest like the SCP Foundation and the Global Occult Coalition and depending on the circumstances would either clash against each other or collaborate in taking down their common enemy. One of the wars Valravn took part in was the conflict between the oppressive governments of Latin America and Las Viboras, a left-wing revolutionary guerrilla group formed of ex-Serpent's Hand members led by Cristina Cisneros. The governments hired Valravn to take down Las Viboras, forcing the latter to trick the Sin Nombre drug cartel into giving its members anomalous weapons. This gave a bit of advantage to the group, but Valravn still had the upper hand, while Sin Nombre, furious over the scam, also went after Las Viboras.
Possible Endings[]
Doctors of the Church[]
Following a IK-Class "Collapse of Global Civilization" Scenario, also known as the "Great Breach", which regressed all of human to a medieval state, Valravn Corporation reorganized into the Valravn Clans. These clans were a culture of warriors, raiders, merchants, and explorers who set residence mostly in Scandinavia, though they were also present across the European coastline and North Atlantic. The High Table still maintained their governance over Valravn, still filled with greed and bloodlust. The Valravn Clans formed a friendly relationship with the Daevite Empire as they participated in the Empire's slave trade and would sell valuable Daevite goods. This caused the Valravn Clans to become feared and heated by most civilizations.
In 501 AB, the Clans, wanting to reconnect with the long separated American continents, sent colonizers through Greenland and into Kannada. At first the colonizers were friendly with the kingdoms of Kannada, the SCP of the Holy Foundation and Thereven Khanate's predecessors, and formed Valravn Rus' that was established in Newfoundland, Great Lakes region. The colonizers also formed a chain of trading posts that stretched from St. Lawrence River and across the Great Lakes region where they traded exotic items from Europe. However, the relationship soon soured as Valravn Rus' organized raids across the Great Lakes, and eventually planned to attack Kannada's Site-43. This prompted the shamans to summon SCP-5866 to destroy Valravn Rus', leaving the reminder to perish to SCP-5494. Despite this setback, the survivors did manage to found the two cities of Fenrys and Utgard in Foundation territory.
Organization[]
The Valravn Corporation appeared as a Anomalous Private Military Company that commanded a force of trained mercenaries recruited from soldiers who have previously fought in wars, regardless if they were anomalous or not. It was active in politically unstable regions like Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and South Asia where the Foundation and the GOC didn't have much influence, and there it would lend its services to the highest bidder, be it governments or GoIs, to take down their opponents.
The Corporation utilized state-of-the-art gears and weaponry that rivaled those of the Foundation's MTFs and GOC's troops. This was achieved thanks to its advanced paratech developed by the Tyr Project that greatly enhanced its forces. Besides this, Valravn Corporation was also proficient in weaponizing various anomalies of mythical origin, turning these mythological entities and artifacts into twisted and deadly weapons used to slaughter its enemies.
Valravn Corporation has been described as both a business and a cult, professing to both Norse paganism and capitalism. Members believed that the world was ruled by the Laws of Fate and Demand, disregarding morality in favor for war and profit. For Valravn a universe plagued by endless war is a ground where it can scavenge for spoils and fruits. According to them Odin owned them all and deaths were bound to fate, relieving the members of fear of death and guilt of killing.
Ranks and Structure[]
High Table[]
The High Table is a shadowy board of directors that have complete authority over the Corporation. Because they never show themselves almost nothing is known about them apart from their positions which included: the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operation Officer, the Chief Information Officer, the Chief Technology Officer, the Chief Security Officer, the Chief Financial Officer, and the Chief Marketing Officer.
Operations Department[]
The Operations Department is the internal branch of the Corporation that maintains the planning and logistical support for other branches, and ensuring that the military operations and research projects are provided enough resources and support to be successful.
Tyr Project[]
The Tyr Project is a world-leading research division on paraprosthetics and combat augmentations, serving as the Corporation's Research and Development of paranormal technology. The Tyr Project could turn any type of soldier into a living weapon, and is responsible for the creation of the Valkyries, the Chirons and Lloronas.
Jomsviking Assault Troops[]
The Jomsviking Assault Troops are the Corporation's soldiers that hadn't received any augmentation, instead being equipped with advanced gear and weaponry, and are led by a commander bearing the title of Hersir. These troops are recruited veterans from mundane and anomalous elite armies who were trained to be disciplined and proficient fighters.
Valkyries[]
The Valkyries are a combat unit comprised solely of women who have received cybernetic combat augmentations, turning them into killing machines. They act as the Corporation's infiltration and shock unit as they excelled in close-quarters combat. The Valkyries are divided in different squads named after famous warrior orders which included: the Sveromeyja, the Hospitallers, the Templars, Doncellas de la Alabarda, and the Cuāuhocēlōtl. The Valkyries had their own headquarters where they, along with their leader titled Dróttning, coordinated the operations of all squads.
Chirons[]
Crippled veterans who had their legs that had been severed and lost during their service in wars replaced with quadruped paraprosthetics that not only gave their mobility back but also enhanced their abilities, such as granting them all-terrain mobility. They were useful as shock troops and reconnaissance as the Chirons could rapidly ambush and disengage enemies.
Berserks[]
The Berserks are biomechanical monsters shaped like bears with sharp metallic fangs and insatiable bloodlust. They served as Valravn's secret cards as their strength, size and violence made them nearly unstoppable.
Lloronas[]
The Lloronas are vengeful spirits trapped inside cyborg zombies augmented for combat and camouflaged through memetic means.
Relationships with other organizations[]
Valravn Corporation has a complicated relationship with the SCP Foundation due to the latter trying to peacefully contain the anomalies which often caused the two groups to clash, but most of the time would be forced to collaborate and in a few occasions the Foundation even hired the Corporation to help in fighting another anomaly. The Global Occult Coalition appears to have a less antagonistic relationship with the Corporation, as the GOC once paid it to assist its troops in fighting the Chaos Insurgency, leaving the GOC satisfied with the services though its agents were disturbed by the Corporation's means of executing their enemies.
Marshall, Carter and Dark Ltd. was a client of the Corporation, helping fight parties that had wronged MC&D like The Hunter's Black Lodge. Wilson's Wildlife Solutions reluctantly hired Valravn to hunt down the poachers that were driving the Dingonek to extinction. The Manna Charitable Foundation once attempted to save some poor people in the Middle East, but the Corporation, hired by a emir, attacked the charity's workers, killing most of them except for one in order for him to tell the story.
As Las Viboras, an offshoot of the Serpent's Hand, fought back against the oppressive governments throughout Latin America, Valravn was called to squash the movement, but found it difficult to completely destroy the group. The anomalous drug cartel Sin Nombre also got involved in the conflict as Las Viboras fought against the criminal group as well. It was later revealed that the cartel's leader, the Empty Man, was part of the Federal Security Directorate's Divsión Zotz, a Mexican intelligence agency and secret police trained by Valravn during the Dirty War.
In their quest of bringing out information to the public, a couple of Wandsmen covered the Corporation in their press news, learning of the ruthless and selfish nature of Valravn and developing hatred towards it.
Valravn Corporation has developed rivalries with other paranormal mercenary groups like the Volk Division and the Doomed Brigade in Europe. Valravn also clashed with the Anomalous Warfare Battalion, an elite battalion from the Philippine Marine Corps, and the Ang Sinumpa, a communist group the Corporation fought since it was an enemy of the Zenith Group, a mysterious world-spanning mega-conglomerate that's also one of Valravn's main investors.
In other parts of the world, Valravn encountered with other independent militaristic forces like Primordial, a far more benevolent mercenary group that contrasted with the Corporation, A.R.G.U.S., a secular group that had a complicated relationship with the Corporation, and Raptor Tec. Industries, a rival group that the Corporation once tried to turn it into one of its suppliers.
Due to the dispute over SCP-7157, the Corporation is on very bad terms with the Three Moons Initiative.
When constructing a new establishment in the intergalactic docks near the planet of Kepler, Ambrose Restaurants hired Valravn to act as security to deal with problematic patrons like the Keplerian 4cc7.
Greazeburger Incorporated also hired Valravn for assistance in invading an obscure town in Kansas because the civilians consumed food from its nonanomalous competitors. Valravn killed the mayor and her family, along with anyone who opposed them such as the police, allowing Greazeburger to turn the town into GreazeLanding One.
A unknown organization led by a female descendant of General Bowe that commissioned Redwood Labs to manufacture a new generation of Olympians, used its new super-soldiers to attack a Valravn squad and steal their intact brain of a reality-bender from Colombia.
Goldbaker-Reinz Insurance Group Ltd. is willing to give life insurance to members of Private Military Companies, which includes Valravn, and would even hire these companies for boots-on-the-ground risk analysis. However, it refused to support PMCs if they were paid to fight countries part of the UN or GOC.
Valravn had captured ex-ORIA operative Farhan Moradi in their base in Pakistan, but was later freed by three Foundation personnel Ari Katsaros, Pierre Gauthier and Sameer Mukherjee. Moradi later blew the Valravn base up after also saving a face eater.
The Black Rabbit Company is, as expected, hostile to Valravn.
SCPs associated with Valravn Corporation[]
- SCP-191: A little girl whose various body parts and organs were replaced with machinery. It was later revealed that she served as a prototype of Valravn's Valkyries.
- SCP-3452: A set of twelve melee weapons, a saber, Kali sticks, a halberd, sais, a rapier, a katar, a battle axe, a Zweihänder, a urumi, a scimitar, a macuahuitl and a longsword, that are comprised of a unknown metal alloy, could increase their users' strength, agility and reflexes, were apparently sentient as they could speak to their users, urging them to fight for honor. Eleven of these weapons were used by twelve captains of Valravn, each named after the twelve paladins of Charlemagne, but they were killed by Las Viboras' Swordmaster who then claimed their weapons.
- SCP-6038: A phenomenon destroying the rural villages that housed Las Viboras in the southern region of a Central American country. This phenomenon was caused by SCP-6038-1, a paratechnological machine resembling a Wheelbarrow bomb disposal robot composed of an embedded processor running a non-sentient tactical AI, an ultrasonic echolocation sensor, a 3D thaumaturgical printing cloning device, a hyper high-frequency voice synthesizer and a thaumaturgical solar power generator and battery. This robot could generate, plant and command around fifty instances of SCP-6038-2, teeth of a Dracus Colchis that when planted would grow into animated statues of a Greek phalanx which would attack enemies SCP-6038-1 was programmed to combat. The robot was constructed by Valravn as an attempt to take down Las Viboras.
- SCP-6952: A book that can manifest any type of weapons, designated SCP-6952-1, and the materials comprising them, designated SCP-6952-2. When someone drew a weapon in one of its blank pages that weapon would appear in reality though it was mostly mundane, while more blank pages appeared. This book previously belonged to the Volk Division before Valravn claimed it and gave it to the Foundation in exchange for information regarding SCP-6755, the Mexican depiction of Lady Death.
- SCP-7114: A digital reality bending entity known as the Fangoddess inhabiting the Net, who embodies the line between reality and fiction. She was discovered by Valravn Corporation and because she could protect reality from fictional entities it and the Foundation would collaborate to constantly observe and protect her.
- SCP-7157-Alpha: A bipedal remote-controlled military construct 57 meters in height and weigh 120,500 kilograms, named "Aurvandill". It is constructed of a metallic substance filled with regenerative nanotechnology, equipped with six railguns, capable of fast flight and speed, and is powered by Odin's blood known as Grauzh. It is part of a series of drones that were forged by Valravn which considers them as icons. After learning that the Three Moons Initiative had created an exact replica of Aurvandill, the Corporation felt that their design had been stolen and attacked the Initiative as retribution. The Foundation attempted to settle matters peacefully, but it resulted in the Corporation challenging the Initiative to a Holmgang, a duel that would be fought between their own versions of the mech. They started to battle on April 28th of 2019 in the Kara Kum desert, Turkmenistan, and are still fighting to this day without stop.
- SCP-7542: A heavily armored cyborg super soldier codenamed Ymir created by Valravn to help the US military in the Vietnam War. This individual used to be a decorated member of Spetsnaz who had lost his arms and was severely burned from his time during a war, and as part of deal between the US president Lyndon B. Johnson and Valravn he was turned by the Corporation's scientist Dr. Joseph Curtis into a living weapon to be used against the North Vietnamese Army. However, he would be destroyed by GRU Division "P" along with Curtis' work, while the president and the Foundation attempted to cover up the deal. The Foundation got hold of SCP-7542's remains but gave them back to Valravn in exchange for a unknown object.
- SCP-075-INT: A group of robots or vehicles designed to grab and bring food ingredients from dangerous locations in order to cook dishes for the Grand esoteric cooking tournament happening within a pocket dimension in Paris, France. One of the contestants was a member of Valravn who piloted a black minotaur robot and later fought against the other participants.
