“ | Uwee hee hee! Uwee hee hee! I have always known that only I, Valtome, possessed the grace and beauty to be chosen by the goddess! How wonderful to finally be recognized for my excellence! If only that insufferable Zelgius could see me now! I am divinity! Uwee hee hee! | „ |
~ Valtome |
“ | How quaint. Uwee hee hee... Your Majesty, do you know what the penalties are for the crimes you've committed? I can only assume you do not, or you would not so rashly endanger your life. But don't worry, Queen Elincia. Once Begnion has your crown--along with your head--removed for treason, I'm sure we will take VERY good care of your people. | „ |
~ Valtome |
Valtome, also known as Duke of Culbert, is a minor antagonist in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. Valtome is a high ranking senator in the Begnion Senate and he was appointed to lead the Begnion Central Army by the Senate themselves.
Appearance[]
Valtome is somewhat old, with light skin, blue eyes, a very pointy nose, and long brown hair. For clothing, Valtome wears white robes with purple trim, a blue amulet, green bows on his arms, an earpiece, and pink lipstick.
Biography[]
In his first appearance, Levail informs Zelgius about the Laguz Alliance heading into Kauku Caves. Knowing that sending his soldiers in there would be suicide, Zelgius decides to let them go and declare their mission over before being stopped by Valtome. Valtome tells Zelgius that he is in charge of Central Army, and due to this, Zelgius must abide to his orders. Valtome's first order is to continue to chase down the Laguz Alliance, but taking a different path while also sending some forces into the caves to retrieve some Laguz corpses. Despite protests from the knight, Valtome refuses and threatens execution to Zelgius to make him obey, to which he does.
The following chapter, Valtome finds out that the Laguz Alliance were given safe passage from Crimea by Queen Elincia herself, and due to this, he sends his soldiers to Crimea to ransack a village. After Geoffrey and his royal guards takes care of Roark's forces, Elincia has a meeting with Valtome, and while Elincia tells him that Crimea will remain neutral during the war, Valtome accuses her for treason to Begnion and tells her that when she eventually killed, he will take over Crimea in her place.
Later, after both the Laguz alliance and the Begnion Central Army were stopped by Elincia asking them to leave Crimea, both Valtome and Tibarn disagree on the order to retreat, although Tibarn later retracts his statement out of being impressed by the pure sturbborness of the queen. Eventually. Zelgius orders his forces to leave to, but this angered Valtome, so he instead orders his remaining forces to kill Elincia, leaving both the Greil Mercenaries and her royal guards to come and protect her. After knowing that the battle is lost, Valtome retreats back to a nearby Begnion camp to duel with Zelgius. When he gets to the camp, he immediately orders Zelgius to be executed for treason, disobeying his orders, and abandoning him on the battlefield, and while Levail tried to convince him to reconsider, Valtome ignored him and even went as far as lie to the people of Begnion, saying that Zelgius was killed by the Laguz. However, the execution was stopped by Empress Sanaki, as she tells her soldiers that she never wanted to start a war and that the war was started because of Vice Minister Lekain and the corrupt senators. Valtome lies in response, saying that she alongside Sephiran are planning to take over, with this causing Zelgius to finally snap and choke out his master, demanding him to leave Sanaki alone, to which he does. After the Central Army sides with the Apostle, Valtome flees back to Begnion to inform Lekain about the events that transpired.
In his last appearance, Valtome, along with the Disciples of Order, tries to stop the Hawk Army from reaching the Goddess Tower at the Lakes of Semper. The Hawk Army is very successful in stopping the Disciples of Order, and them alongside Prince Pelleas manage to end Valtome's life.
