The Vampires are the main antagonists of the Stakes miniseries in Season 7 of Cartoon Network's 2010 animated series Adventure Time. They are the arch-enemies of Marceline Abadeer.
They were a group of near-extincted bloodthirsty and powerful vampires that feasted on human blood. They were all later killed by the half-human demon, Marceline, who took their powers, while the vampire monarch, the Vampire King turn her into a vampire before his demise.
Hundreds of years later, they returned back to life due to Marceline wanting to remove the vampire essence so she could become mortal once again. With their resurrection, the vampires begin making plans to feast upon the inhabitants of OOO, forcing Marceline and her friends to hunt them down and put an end to them once and for all.
Members[]
- The Vampire King: The Vampire King is the ruler of the vampires and the main antagonist of the entire mini-series. He is also the primary arch-nemesis of Marceline Abadeer, having been the one who turned her into a vampire hundreds of years ago.
- The Fool: The Fool is a small and incredibly dim-witted vampire who often takes things like it's a game to him. Because of his dim-witted personality, he's the easiest vampire that Marceline defeats. His ability is flight, which allows him to fly around.
- The Empress
- The Hierophant
- The Moon
Trivia[]
- Each of the vampires represents a Major Arcana, which is meaningful to their names:
- The Fool represents the arcana of the Fool, which symbolizes innocence, spontaneity, and free-spiritedness. The Fool is incredibly dimwitted, and so because of his "innocent" personality, he's the easiest vampire to be killed.
- The Empress represents the arcana of the Empress, which symbolizes beauty, femininity, and abundance. The Empress is quite beautiful, and she uses that (along with her hypnotization ability) to her advantage.
- The Hierophant represents the arcana of the Hierophant, which symbolizes righteousness, hierarchical order, and traditional beliefs, including religious training. The Hierophant is a firm believer in the old ways and this puts him into conflict with the Vampire King, who no longer relies on the old ways.
- The Moon represents the arcana of the Moon, which symbolizes dreams, illusions, and deception. The Moon often deceives her enemies by looking incredibly harmless, but her dream abilities make her one of the most dangerous and unpredictable vampires in the series. There's also often a lot of dream moments Marceline has while she is trying to recover from the Hierophant's poison.
- In contrast to his fellow vampire brethren, The Vampire King represents three major arcanas:
- The Wheel of Fortune arcana, something that he brings up during his negotiation with Marceline. The Wheel symbolizes the symbol of life, turning points, and luck in different aspects of life.
- The Emperor arcana, which symbolizes power, strength, and leadership in matters of love, health, and work.
- Strength arcana, which symbolizes personal strength, courage, and patience.
