“ | Let me say a little bit about the vampire’s manner, because once I taught myself to read, I read as much on the subject as I could, and it isn’t covered often or clearly in those books I have found. You see, from my own observations, I believe a vampire to be more like an animal than a man. That is not to be taken as merely a turn of phrase, but more to do with how they work. I do not believe vampires are human in anything more than their appearance, nor have I ever seen evidence that they create more of their kind through feeding. | „ |

Vampires, also called Bloodsuckers, are supporting antagonists of the Rusty Quill horror podcast The Magnus Archives.
They are monstrous, predatory creatures that feed on human blood. Using their power over hypnotism and their mostly human appearances, they would lure people to their lairs, where they would suck their blood using their long tongues. They seemed to have a connection to the godlike entity known as the Hunt, serving a victims and victimizers to many of its servitors, and being crucially involved in its ritual.
Description[]
Without further inspection, a vampire resembles a normal human. However, their mouths contain several rows of teeth, like a sharks'. They have long, tubular tongues, that they use to suck the blood out of open wounds. After feeding, their guts are usually bloated and swollen.
Vampires were purely animalistic, predatory creatures. They focused solely on eating and presumably reproducing, although it is unknown how they do the latter. They understand humans well enough to partially manipulate and eat them, but never show any empathy towards them, and are actually somewhat poor at acting human. They have been described as hunters and do seem to have a genuine sort of sadism about them, and an enjoyment of the hunt.
History[]
In the early 20th century, a colony of Vampires lived in the jungles of Columbia, seemingly feeding off of the Kalabolos people. In the 1930s, a group explorers intruding on their territory, brought there by the Hunt, searching for undefined goals they would never find. The Vampires became the obstacles in their endless hunt, attacking their camps by night and killing as many of them as possible, consistently being fought off. Eduard von Toll took the staking the Vampires to trees and leaving them there, which did not kill them. It is unclear if this colony still existed by the time the hunt was over.
In the late 20th century, a significant population of Vampires had apparently grown in Manchester, pretending to be humans and luring various people back to their homes where they would kill them and drink their blood. The Vampires population here seemingly suffered significantly due to the actions of Trevor Herbert, a homeless self-proclaimed Vampire hunter who tracked Vampires right before they fed and tried to kill them before they could eat their victims, being successful at least half the time. He eventually joined forces with fellow monster-hunter Julia Montauk, but the pair immigrated to the United States in 2017, presumably allowing the Vampire population in Manchester to prosper once more.
In the early 2000s, a population of Vampires began to prosper in Preston. They would occasionally be arrested but would usually be able to hypnotize the interrogating officer into letting them go and destroying all evidence. Eventually, the police force assigned detective Daisy Tonner with taking all Vampiric criminals into the Epping Forest, where she would burn them to death.

Powers and Abilities[]
Vampires cannot speak and instead rely on hypnosis to lure humans to their lair. Their hypnosis seems somewhat powerful, and although they are not in complete control of the person, they can impart sensations by meeting their eyes, which gives them control of their victim before they feed. The hypnosis can be counteracted, however, if the victim knows that it is happening.
Vampires cannot digest solid food and can only digest blood. Other substances in the blood, such of heroin or other drugs, can have adverse effects on a Vampire drinking it.
Vampires can live for a long time, and can survive many things that would be deadly to a human: namely being stabbed. However, they are extremely dry and as a result very flammable.
