Trivia[]
- Van Augur is the youngest of all of the Ten Titanic Captains.
- His name is a word that means to predict or portend outcomes, which is reflective of his belief in Fate and that outcomes are predetermined.
- Much like every member of Blackbeard's crew, Augur seems to be an evil counterpart of one of the Straw Hats, in this case, Usopp.
- Both men are snipers of near-supernatural ability but while Augur is a man who staunchly believes in Fate (his name even reflecting this), Usopp seems able to inadvertently manipulate Fate, many of the outlandish lies he tells eventually turning out to be true.
- On a related note, they are also counterparts in that Augur believes the future is predetermined and beyond mortal control, while Usopp (and indeed, all the Straw Hats) believe humans are able to forge their own destinies.
- Both hail from the East Blue.
- Both carry their signature weapon around.
- Both serve Captains from the Worst Generation and Clan of D.
