~ Savage to the Justice League.
Vandal Savage is the main antagonist of Justice League: Doom.
He is a millennia old immortal who seeks to rule the world, stealing Batman’s contingencies against the Justice League and recruiting a team of super villains to take them down.
50,000 years ago, Savage was a caveman who witnessed a meteor shower. While his compatriots fled when one crashed nearby, he instead stayed and slept next to it. as the night was cold and the meteor provided warmth. Unbeknownst to him at the time, bathing in the meteor’s radioactive light granted him immortality and advanced intelligence. Once he woke up and learned this, he became driven to rule the world according to his vision, taking up various jobs throughout his life, but most often attempting to conquer.
Some time before the events of the film, he discovered Batman’s true identity and formulated a plan to eliminate the Justice League, seeing them as threats to his latest plan for world conquest.
He secretly gave the Royal Flush Gang interdimensional technology allowing them to go on a robbing spree. However, this was really a front to draw out the Justice League to stop them so that his associate Mirror Master could stow away on the Batmobile when Batman went back to the Batcave following the ordeal. Once there, he had Mirror Master use tech he purchased from Lexcorp to successfully download Batman’s secret contingency to defeat each member of the Justice League from his computer and stow back on the Batmobile. He also revealed to Mirror Master that he knew who Batman really was.
Next, he sent $10 million each to Star Sapphire, Metallo, Cheetah, and Bane, inviting them the location to his Hall of Doom in a swamp. He introduces himself and offers them each $100 million plus expenses to kill the Justice League using the plans he stole, swaying all of them to accept and christening the new team as the Legion of Doom.
After the Legion of Doom seemingly end the Justice League, they go back to the Hall of Doom to celebrate. When the others ask what his true plans are, given that he hinted they could play a part, he reveals his true plan: to destroy half to two-thirds of the human population and remake the world, revealing that their 100 million payday would be meaningless. He reveals his backstory as a caveman endowed with immortality and intelligence thousands of years ago after sleeping next to a radioactive meteorite and that he wishes to rule humanity with an iron fist, but first he needed to soften them up to trick them into willingly accepting his rule. He offers each of them to become warlords of what remains of humanity, ruling over as much land as they could handle, second only to himself, convincing them to join them although as Cheetah pointed out, it wasn't as if they had much choice.
He reveals a missile he constructed which would do the deed of culling the human population. Not by directly blowing up though, but instead when launched at the ideal time window, it would travel to the sun, leaving a magnetic trail and trigger a solar flare at lightspeed that would follow the magnetic trail back to Earth and destroy the sun facing side of Earth and thereby their population along with wiping out all modern day tech with an electromagnetic pulse and they would step in right after and assume control.
Just then though, the Justice League appears, having survived thanks to Batman’s sheer resiliency and their unexpected new ally Cyborg, and they engage in a battle. While the Justice League and Legion of Doom fight, Savage stabs Cyborg in the back and disables him when he aborts the missile launch, reactivating the launch and beating back Cyborg’s attempts to take him down to successfully launch the missile. While Superman comes in to stop the missile, it turns out Savage had planned for this and the missile broke apart to launch countless small projectiles and despite Superman’s best efforts, some do reach the Sun and detonate to release a flare. Back at the base, Savage was about to kill Cyborg before Wonder Woman lassoed him from behind and together they took him down. However, with the flare approaching, all hope seemed lost until some quick thinking thanks to Cyborg and ironically modifying and utilizing Savage’s plan to shield the Hall of Doom from the flare using the intangible generator he had lend to the Royal Flush gang, the Justice League is able to shield the whole Earth just barely to survive the flare, saving the world. Vandal Savage was arrested and found guilty of crimes against humanity, being sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
