Vargas is a supporting antagonist in the 1961 James Bond novel Thunderball and its 1965 film adaptation. He is a henchman to Emilio Largo.
He was portrayed by the late Philip Locke.
History[]
During the operation of stealing atomic weapons from a NATO plan, Vargas is seen in the submarine that carried the bombs. He spotted James Bond at Casino while playing with Largo. At Palmyra, Vargas hears that Quist was coming to make his report, then when they hear the failure, the henchman watches as Quist is executed by being thrown to the sharks.
Later, Vargas and his men abduct Paula Bond's assistant and brings her to Largo. Vargas later attempts to kill Bond while he is talking to Domino on the beach, but Bond kills him by impaling him with a spear.
