The Variants are the main antagonists of Shotgun Boy. They are a group of shape-shifting monsters who were experimented on by the MM Corporation, leading them to try killing humans.

Overview[]

The Variants are a recently-discovered species with a small population. Their bodies are made up of protein, like humans, but are able to use it with much more force. They are stated to be naturally occurring, but what caused them is unknown. Most of them are implied to have lived normal human lives (employees, firefighters, etc.), although some may have participate in human hunting.

Some of them were eventually captured and experimented on by the MM Corporation, so they could use their abilities to advance humanity. This led to them having a hostile takeover.

MM-C Variants[]

These Variants lived normal human lives until being taken in by the MM Corporation. They were researched in order to further medicine and possibly other reasons. After brutal "experimentation", the monsters developed a severe hatred for humanity. Eventually, they took over MM-C and killed Sangjin Kim, who was delivering Zero.

The variants begin their plans by disguising themselves as employees for a retreat camp near MM-C, luring in Yeongchan High Class 1 and 2 students and teachers. First, they take all of their phones away without arousing suspicion. They then proceed to try to kill all of the students one by one.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Superhuman Capability: Each variant shows super human endurance, speed and strength.
  • Transforming: Each one seems to show the ability to morph into another person by eating their brain. They also gain that person's memories. Additionally, they can eat each others' brains to gain their memories.
  • Tentacles: They are capable of manipulating tentacles throughout their body.
  • Smokescreen: They possess the ability to create a cloud of smoke, blinding their enemies.
