The Varrios Los Aztecas are major protagonists of the GTA series. They are the tritagonists of GTA San Andreas and minor antagonists of GTA V. They are allies of the families and the main rivals of the Los Santos Vagos.
Biography[]
San Andreas[]
They appear when Carl Johnson(AKA CJ) meets his sister’s boyfriend Cesar Vialpando, who happens to be the leader of the Aztecas. CJ then begins to race Cesar and other members of the gang and ends up winning. One member of the Aztecas named Jose attempts to pick a fight with CJ, but Cesar shows his respect by calming Jose down and becoming friends with CJ. The gang don’t show up very much in the game, though they are implied to have lost their territories to the Vagos during the wars. When CJ starts fighting back against his enemies, the Aztecas assist him and succeed in taking back their territories.
GTA V[]
When Trevor Phillips begins taking out his rivals, he goes after the Aztecas current leader, Ortega. The player can decide to either kill Ortega or spare him. Either way ends the same with the Aztecas either attacking Trevor to avenge Ortega or because Ortega ordered them to. They fail in doing so and leave Trevor alone. For the rest of the game, they are merely NPCs.
