| ~ A grief stricken Veldanava to Rimuru Tempest in Genesis of Rivalry |
Veldanava (ヴェルダナーヴァ Verudanāva) also known as the Star King Dragon (星王竜 Seiōryū) is a major character of the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime franchise. He was the Creator of the multiverse, husband of Lucia Nasca and father of Milim Nava as one of the True Dragons.
However after his death and rebirth following the terrorist attack by Jahil, the loss of Lucia ends up driving him into grief and madness seeing his creations as failures and saught to destroy the Multiverse to revive her.
Appearance[]
His dragon form is a large scale green dragon akin to his siblings like Veldora, Velzard, and Velgrynd towering over human size.
His human form is similar to Feldway except his hair is black and armor is white with golden eyes.
Personality[]
Veldanava is a whimsical being, having abandoned his almightiness and created everything to sate his boredom. Due to this dislike of boredom, he likes the imperfection and the unknown that comes after abandoning his omnipotence, often times seeking and even striving to be one himself, which would be fulfilled after his marriage and the birth of his child.
As the Creator, he naturally has an innate interest and care for all beings, especially the intelligent ones or even beings that have the potential to be intelligent like Ivaragé. Despite this, he almost never directly interferes with matters of any kind, dumping responsibilities onto others as much as he can.
After being resurrected and discovering of Lucia's death he become malevolent towards his creation.
Biography[]
Before creation, pre-dating concepts such as time, light, and darkness, there existed only a will. All-One, an all-knowing and all-powerful, singular and complete existence. Inevitably, this will grew bored, very bored. So it came up with the idea of creating other wills to sate its boredom. It took to work creating a grand construction with space for the wills to occupy and time so they could experience events sequentially.
After making the groundwork for its construction, reality, it realized that it would know everything that would ever come to pass within it. Finding the idea of knowing everything that would happen before it happens unsatisfying, it decided to give up its omnipotence and omniscience and what remained afterward was Veldanava, a being with the creator's will but existing as part of creation rather than something beyond it.
Veldanava awakened in the Heavenly Star Palace and continued constructing the worlds. He commanded the eight Great Holy Spirits and formed seven servants from the Spirit of Light. With their powers and Nihility Collapse, he created countless worlds with different laws, centered around the Central World, intended to be populated by immortal, godlike beings.
To begin this race, he created Twilight Valentine as the prototype ancestor. Twilight, lacking gender and unable to reproduce, crafted new species from its own form: high humans—intelligent but flawed by ego—and vampires—immortal but unsuitable for daylight and reliant on blood. Returning to experimentation, Twilight eventually created humans and the various demi-human species. Though not immortal, they fulfilled Veldanava’s hopes and brought him joy.
Twilight created humans and spread them across many universes to ensure diverse cultures, while Veldanava tasked his top subordinate, Feldway, with protecting humanity. As countless races and civilizations emerged, Veldanava divided parts of his divine authority into the Seven Virtues, granting them to worthy individuals and sending the rest into reincarnation. He also appointed Ramiris and Guy Crimson as “Mediators” to oversee the world in his stead.
Later, Veldanava met the royal family of Nasca, mentoring the crown prince Rudra Nam Ul Nasca and giving him the Ultimate Skill Michael to help him pursue peace. Veldanava eventually fell in love with Rudra’s sister Lucia, and their union resulted in the birth of Milim Nava. Milim’s birth consumed nearly all of Veldanava’s remaining power, leaving his body unstable. With the last of his strength, he created a dragon companion for Milim. Drained of divinity, Veldanava reincarnated into a fragile, essentially human form with a normal mortal lifespan.
He and Lucia would meet their end in a terrorist attack made by Jahil on their nation only for their daughter's power to destroy his nation.
However, when he eventually revived after his death, the loss of Lucia Nasca broke him. It made him lose interest in his own creations, as he realized that if it had only been him, he would have endured—but Lucia was the one line he could not bear to see crossed.
He chose to rest and recover in secret, letting everyone except for Velzard believe he was dead, while allowing Feldway to attempt to destroy the world in order to revive him.
He would show up around Feldway but Angel was confused as all he wanted is Veldanava arrive to stop him and Feldway would attack Veldanava while Dino and other Angels got away. Veldanava would make his presence known revealing he was alive and loss of Lucia Nasca deemed his creations failures as he intends to turn to turn Ivaragé into a reincarnation of Lusca Nasca once he collects her soul fragments.
He would attempt to eliminate Rimuru Tempest and his loved ones so they know his despair before resting the world once Lusca's soul fragments are collected as he would fight Rimuru Tempest seemly having the advantage until Benimaru shielded his master nearly dying causing Rimuru Tempest to go all out and refusing to go down Veldanava no longer held back.
When suddenly Ciel would arrive having collected Lusca Nasca's soul fragments and reviving her, he would cease his actions breaking down for his actions with Lusca saying it was her death that drove him to it. Ivaragé showing up having just lost a fight with Guy Crimson and attempting to reunite with her other half not caring about anything anymore at this point. He and Lusca would be consumed Ivaragé but not before their heartcores eaten by Gaia who would become a True Dragon in place of him and Lusca to watch over.
