[Vera slaps Marv]
Marv: [confused]
What's wrong with you?
Vera: [angrily] What's wrong with
you? I'm no bag. And you know what? You ain't no genius!
Marv: Vera, honey--
Vera: No! Don't "Vera, honey" me. You're not even as smart as this kid, who, in case you hadn't noticed, is totally kickin' our butts! Well, from now on, I am my own boss! [waving her hand around at Marv's face and leaves angrily]
~ Vera to Marv who she thinks he called her a "bag" unware it was Kevin who done it.

Vera Murchins is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Marv) of the 2002 comedy film, Home Alone 4: Taking Back The House, the fourth installment in the Home Alone franchise.

She is the wife of Marv Merchants, and the archenemy of Kevin McCallister.

She was portrayed by Missi Pyle, who also portrayed Ashley Sanderson in Bringing Down the House, Shelly Stoker in My Name Is Earl, Gail Van Ravensway in A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song, the Merch Owner in I Kissed a Girl, Cythonna in Teen Titans Go! and DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse and Sally Marnes in Traffik,.

Personality[]

Although she was married to Marv, they appeared to be in a love-hate relationship, exchanging insults and blows to each other at different times similar to what Marv did with Harry.

Biography[]

Home Alone 4: Taking Back The House []

Like her husband, Vera has a criminal background and had met Marv Merchants after his release from prison. He married Vera and she became his new partner in crime, replacing his former partner and friend Harry Lime. Vera assumed they would carry out burglaries together, but Marv opted out of his type of crime due to his failed attempts with Harry and instead came up with a plan to kidnap the Prince who was visiting the mansion of Natalie, whom his mother, Molly, works at undercover.

When Natalie and her boyfriend, Peter, go away for the day and Molly goes out, Vera and Marv go to break in to check out the house, unaware that Peter's son Kevin - who is Marv's recurring adversary - is occupying the house.

When Kevin spots him he lures the pair to the bathroom and turns on the water taps, which causes the place to flood and swept the pair away and down the stairs.

Marv identifies Kevin as the culprit, and he and Vera make their escape before anyone gets home. Marv gets angry and worried at Kevin's return as he had failed his plans on two occasions before, but Vera reminds him that he is just a little boy.

On the night of the Royal Family's apparent arrival, Vera and Marv go undercover as waiters to scout out the house. Going into the room believed to be set up for the Prince, Marv puts Vera in a bag to practice how they will kidnap him. But Kevin sabotages it and causes Marv and Vera to fall from a window. They return to the house to "kill" him but end up having lots of food thrown over them by Kevin and Marv falls on a burning hot oven and ends up retreating with Vera. The whole night proved pointless as the Royal Family's flight was delayed.

On Christmas Day, Molly locks Kevin in the wine cellar and wait for the Royal Family's arrival. Kevin escapes and after putting Vera and Marv through more mayhem, they end up being knocked out. When the police arrive, Vera and Marv attempt one last escape but get tripped up by Kevin's brother and sister and arrested by the police.

Quotes[]

Marv: Aw, nuts. Just when things were getting good. Nice house, huh, pumpkin?
Vera: Sure is, Marv. You sure you don't wanna rob it?
Marv: No. No. I don't wanna rob it. My robbery days are over. Look, darling, we're moving up to the big money, all right? The easy money. No middleman. Pure profit. Strictly a class operation, huh? Three words, Vera. Kid... nap... ping.
Vera: [mumbles] I think that's only one word.
Marv: We're gonna wait for the royals to arrive-- hup, dup, dodey-do-- and then we're gonna kidnap the prince. [high-pitched voice] "Oh, don't kidnap me. I'm fancy."
Vera: You sure we can pull it off? I mean, without Harry making the plans?
Marv: Look where Harry's plans kept landing me, huh? In jail!
Vera: Mmm.
Marv: Well, not this time. Because this time... [sighs] I'm the boss. [Vera scoffs] Yeah. Who's the boss?
Vera: You're the boss.
Marv: I love being married, eh? [Kevin in the taxi cab drives by] That's my girl.
Vera: Hey!
Marv: All right.
Vera: Oh! Looks like they got a visitor.
~ Vera and Marv about their plans of kidnapping the prince and also Vera's first lines of the fourth film.
