Villain Overview

Verne is one of the supporting antagonists in the 2002 Disney animated film Treasure Planet. He is one of the alien pirates in John Silver's crew.

He was voiced by Paul Eiding, who also played Larry in Disney's Tarzan.

Appearance

Verne is a crossbreed of a blue gecko (having suction cups for hands and feet) and a fish (as evidenced by his merman-resembling tail) with gray horns and small black spikes on top of his head.

Biography

Verne was involved in the raid on the Benbow Inn, being one of the first two pirates (the other being Crex) to storm inside before Silver entered himself. During the voyage, the ship encounters a supernova. While securing lifelines of all pirates so that they will not get lost, Jim saves Silver from falling just in time. The supernova then devolves into a black hole, where Arrow falls to his death. The burst of shock waves and maximum engine power enable Amelia to pilot the ship to safety. Amelia mourns the loss of Arrow, and suspects Jim of failing to secure the lifelines, while Arrow's line was actually cut by Scroop. It is unknown what had happened to Verne in the film, as he is not shown again after the siege on the R.L.S. Legacy. His last appearance was when he, John Silver, and Fayvoon broke through Amelia's stateroom; when Silver noticed that Jim, Amelia, and Doppler escaped through a hole in the floor, he quickly grabbed Verne and threw him down into the hole to pursue them. But due to the sparks from damaged circuits and cords in the ship's interior, he was most likely electrocuted by the cords and mysteriously disappeared as a result.

Trivia
