Five tribes. Five bombs. That's what I need. With their capitals in ruins, they will have no choice but to submit to my rule.
~ Vezreh's intent to bomb the five capital cities in the Forbidden West.

Vezreh is a minor antagonist in the 2022 video game Horizon Forbidden West. He was one of the members of the Eclipse who participated in the Battle of the Alight, long before he leads the remnants of the cult in the Forbidden West, where he would use an ancient ruin, Shadow's Reach, as his base of operations.

From there Vezreh and his Eclipse would soon kidnap Utaru from around Plainsong's border and use them as slaves to unearth Old World explosives used in Operation: Enduring Victory, hundreds of years ago, where he would use them in his hegemonic plan to target the five capital cities of the Forbidden West and create an empire with him being the leader. However, his plan was thwarted by Aloy, leading to his death.

Personality[]

Similar to Helis, Vezreh combined the bigotry and religious fanaticism typical of the Eclipse, pairing with his megalomania, even going so far as to prepare to attack the capital cities around the West with the explosives he unearthed in Shadow's Reach.

Background[]

Escaping to the Forbidden West[]

Vezreh was one of the few Eclipse to make it out alive from the Battle of the Alight. Vezreh assumed command of the surviving cultists and led them into the Forbidden West, where he left instructions in the Daunt for anybody else to locate.

Shadow of the West[]

Vezreh ordered his soldiers to establish "Shadow's Reach," a base in No Man's Land. To provide slave labour for the fortress' construction, he started kidnapping Utaru within the edge of Plainsong. He developed a plan to destroy the capitals of the five tribes (Thornmarsh, The Bulwark, Scalding Spear, Memorial Grove, and Plainsong), enslaving them to the Eclipse's authority, and establish an empire to govern the whole known tribal world after discovering a store of unused explosives from Operation: Enduring Victory in the wreckage of his new stronghold.

Aloy, like in the Battle of the Alight, foiled the conspiracy of the Eclipse. He battled her together with an overridden Ravager as she stormed into the stronghold and freed his captives, but they were no match. He detonated a bomb in his last moments, hoping in vain to take the Nora huntress down with him. However, Aloy managed to escape from the blast, leaving Vezreh to be killed by his own weapon.

With Vezreh's death, the Eclipse are permanently wiped out from existence, thus erasing the remaining traces of Shadow Carja remnants forever.

Abilities[]

  • Leadership - After Helis' death and the Eclipse's defeat, Vezreh serves as the leader of the Eclipse remnants.
  • Combat skills - Vezreh is skilled in combat, as he was able to use a Ravager Cannon in an attempt to kill Aloy.
  • Old World Technology - Like Helis, Vezreh is well-versed in the usage of ancient technology, as well as technological concepts including Focus Networks, audio logs and hologram videos.
