NOTE: This article is about the incarnation of Victor Zsasz from the Arrowverse. The mainstream version can be found here: Victor Zsasz.

Victor Zsasz, at your service.
~ Victor Zsasz speaking to a client.
I don’t kill and tell.
~ Victor Zsasz’s motto.
Now let's not get ahead of ourselves. First, I make you bleed, then I make me bleed!
~ Victor Zsasz to Mary Hamilton
You should ask yourself, if the person you're inflicting pain on actually enjoys pain, at what point do you just... give up?
~ Victor Zsasz to Ryan Wilder

Victor Zsasz is a minor antagonist in the second and third season of the Arrowverse series Batwoman.

Zsasz is a charismatic and skilled hitman from Gotham City with high, unpredictable energy who proudly carves tally marks onto his skin for every victim he kills.

He is portrayed by Alex Morf, who also portrayed John Healy in Daredevil and Sykes on Gotham.

Biography

Early life

Most of his past life is unknown, but what is known is that Victor Zsasz became an assassin who kept track of how many people he killed by tally marking himself, which at some point caught the attention of Batman. His goal in his line of work was to have his entire body covered in scars, so he could retire from his job

At some point, Zsasz was hired by Angelique Martin to likely hurt her ex-girlfriend, Ryan Wilder, after she broke her heart, which likely failed.

Safiyah Sohail's Job

After Zsasz breaks into Vin Capalaci' apartment and kills him and his mistress for Vin Capalaci's wife, he celebrates his latest kill by cutting himself on his head, until he receives a phone call from Safiyah Sohail to do another job, to get information on the patients and doctors who had the Desert Rose cure and then kill them.

He then breaks into Hamilton Dynamics, kills a guard and a doctor, and downloads a hard drive of information on who received treatment with the Desert Rose cure and what doctors administered the cure.

Personality

Victor Zsasz takes deep pleasure in inflicting pain onto others, as well as himself. He is charismatic, highly intelligent, sophisticated, and appreciates the finer things in life. He speaks with a monotone voice and has no real emotion behind his words. He kills without empathy or remorse and appears to take sadistic pleasure in inflicting pain onto his victims. Despite his young age, Victor has killed hundreds of people, as his entire body is covered in scars, suggesting he has either killed early or often. Zsasz is devoid of conscience, fear, or empathy for those around him and he has zero value for human life. As a prolific hitman, he has killed people in many different types of ways and has no qualms with who he kills, regardless of age, race, or gender. Overall, Victor is a sadomasochistic sociopath who works as a hitman that takes pride and pleasure in murdering people.

Trivia

  • This is the fourth live-action depiction of Victor Zsasz. He had originally made his cinematic debut as a cameo character in the 2005 film Batman Begins. His second depiction was as a recurring antagonist in the television series Gotham, in which he appeared in all five seasons from 2014 to 2019. His third depiction as the secondary antagonist of the 2020 DC Extended Universe film Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
    • Similar to the Gotham Zsasz, this one is portrayed in a comedic manner. However, he is otherwise, as vile as his comic book counterpart because his actions themselves get portrayed seriously by the narrative.
  • Similar to his original appearance in the comics, this Zsasz has a shaved head with a red goatee and tally marks all over his body, however, the comics Zsasz only has blonde hair and no goatee.
