Viernes, also known as the Gold Dragon God, is a major antagonist of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, the spin-off sequel to the original Fairy Tail series. He is one of the Five Dragon Gods that resides in Guilitina as the guild leader of the alchemist guild known as Gold Owl.

He is the most unique one among the Dragon Gods as he is a being that no longer possesses a physical body, but instead exists as a concept. As a result, he uses his conceptual influence to take on the form of Gold Owl and its leader, Duke Barbaroa, who was once an apprentice of Elefseria.

Personality

Viernes is a power-hungry individual who desires to convert his rival Dragon Gods into his servants. Posing as Elefseria's deceased apprentice, Duke Barbaroa, Viernes presents himself as a charismatic leader that his fellow guild members swear loyalty to.

Working with Duke's creation, Athena, he had intended to use her to accomplish his goal, while in turn accomplishing her own of achieving a perfect body. However, when he saw that Athena had gained the ability to feel emotions, he deemed her to be a dud and proceeded to dispatch her, deeming her emotions to be a hinderance to his plan.

Unlike most of the Dragon Gods, Viernes doesn't appear to hold any disdain towards humans but nonetheless, he is more than willing to exploit them for his own use. In addition to subjugating the Dragon Gods, he has also taken an interest in Fairy Tail and Sabertooth's Dragon Slayer mages, seeking to claim their magic for his own use.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

• Gold Dragon Slayer Magic: As his name would suggest, Viernes uses Gold Dragon Slayer Magic, which lets him control and manipulate the elements of gold and like with every other slayer magic, he can empower it further by consuming the appropriate element for it.
• Conceptual Illusionary: As a result of becoming a concept, Viernes has gained the ability to conjure up illusions through conceptual means. This allows him to create a form of Duke Barbaroa, which he uses to serve as his avatar.
• Human Transmutation: Through the use of Duke's alchemy, Viernes is able to create life-like dolls in the form of humans. Because they're not true humans, they possess qualities that make them come across unnatural in comparison to actual people.
