| ~ The Vigilante |
The Vigilante is one of the secondary antagonists (alongside FEMA) of the indie horror visual novel game No, I'm not a Human.
He is the brother of the Protagonist's neighbor who turns to vigilantism during the apocalypse after his death, killing anyone who shows the slightest sign of being a visitor, regardless of whether they actually are or not.
Appearance[]
An older man with a tired and angry expression always plastered on his face, the vigilante has black, greasy hair and wears a leather jacket. Around his regular clothes there are also necklaces that are made of human fingers and human ears, which he claims are from Visitors.
Biography[]
Like most characters in the game, his name and exact history are never revealed. Once the cataclysmic events surrounding the Sun begin bringing out Visitors, he turns to violence, immediately killing anyone that resembles a Visitor in the slightest. He has burned down entire neighborhoods, including the one he came from. Given his paranoia, and immediately killing anyone that carries just one or two characteristics of a Visitor, meaning that he has killed humans that happen to carry traits of a Visitors, which even extends to the Protagonist. When looking out the window during the night, the player can see the end result of his violent efforts.
The vigilante will visit the Protagonist's door on some nights, not wanting to come in and take shelter. Two times in the game, he will ask the Protagonist to prove he is not a Visitor, which can be failed, leading to one of the game's endings. If this ending occurs, the Protagonist and the Vigilante get into a standoff, shooting each other, which the Protagonist barely survives. The Protagonist will pummel the dead Vigilante's face as revenge for his attack, as well the killing of innocent people and the entire towns he purged.
If the Protagonist successfully proves he is not a Visitor, the Vigilante leaves, never to be seen again.
Personality[]
In contrast to the friendly, respectable and kind nature of his brother, the Vigilante is highly erratic, paranoid and extremely aggressive, always on the look out for a possible Visitor. Despite his seemingly good intentions, he really seems to enjoy killing, as he wears a necklace made of ears and fingers. He is a ruthless extremist who will kill anyone who exhibits even a single symptom of being a Visitor. The vigilante also respects people who are willing to stand up against the Visitors or are armed.
The Vigilante sees himself as a bringer of justice, as he constantly refers to himself in this way. At first he reveals he has positive views of the group FEMA, despite their overzealous ways, although later, he expresses disappointment with the group, as FEMA does not outright kill Visitors like the Vigilante does, instead just taking them away.
