Biography[]
Viking Lofgren is an inmate at Rainford Juvenile Correctional Facility and along with fellow inmate Tweety, they are the "barn boss" and control some of "Dorm C" and involved in the 60/40 split with the cigarette action with two other inmates Perretti and Ricky Lee. Viking and Tweety hand out the work assignments.
Mick O'Brien and another new inmate, Terrell, arrive at Rainford and Viking and Tweety give O'Brien and Terrell a hard time. Viking and Tweety put Mick on what they call "Sh-t House Patrol", cleaning the bathrooms. Mick puts up with them at first, but after he witnesses Tweety kill Terrell by throwing him off the catwalk (Terrell tried to stab Tweety with a knife in retaliation for raping him), he refuses to be intimidated by them. Thomas Bendix, the warden of Rainford along with supervisors Gene Daniels, Ramon Herrera question some of the inmates on who saw what, no one talks, not even O'Brien. When Tweety and Viking go into Mick's cell to attack him, Mick beats them bloody with a pillowcase full of soda cans. His victory over Viking and Tweety earns him the respect of the block and recognition as the new "barn boss".
Tweety is released from Rainford and Viking does not have a buddy till Paco Moreno arrives, a rival of Mick O'Brien and they plan to get even with Mick. Paco has dibbs on O'Brien. For awhile, Viking and Paco cause some trouble with O'Brien and Horowitz. During a search of Viking and O'Brien's room, Herrera finds a knife hidden in Viking's room, a knife that belonged to Terrell they took after Tweety killed Terrell. Thomas Bendix has a talk with Viking in his office and is pissed off and tells Viking of the offense and since Viking admit to it, Bendix gives Viking a choice of punishment, 4 weeks in solitary confinement or 4 months added to his time. Viking chooses the 4 months.
