~ Viktor Novikov to Agent 47 (who is disguised as a waiter). |
Viktor Novikov is one of the two opening antagonists (alongside Dalia Margolis) of HITMAN, appearing as one of the two targets of its first mission "The Showstopper". He was a powerful Russian oligarch, appropriator of the Sanguine fashion house, and the ringleader and financer of IAGO, an infamous spy ring.
He is voiced by Jon Curry, who has also voiced Marco Abiatti in the same game, Frank Serpo in Dead Island: Riptide and Badger in The Walking Dead: A New Frontier.
Biography[]
Past[]
After the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, Viktor Novikov made his first fortune in real estate. He was very successful at it for many years, but became financially strained by a subsequent recession and turned to criminal activity to sustain his lavish lifestyle. Five years before the Paris incident, Novikov's girlfriend Dalia Margolis convinced him to buy the Sanguine Fashion House so they could use it as a front for IAGO, their espionage ring.
HITMAN[]
Novikov hosted a fashion show at the Palais de Walewska, a palace in Paris, France. Novikov managed the fashion show, but during the event there was a secret auction occurring in the upper floors. Novikov and Margolis had acquired a confidential list of M16 agents that they intended to sell during the auction. The player, Agent 47, was summoned to the scene to assassinate them both to prevent the transaction. Novikov's exact cause of death is dependent on player choice as there are various strategies the player can use to kill him, such as poisoning, shooting, crushing and drowning. However, his death is guaranteed as the player must eliminate him to complete his mission.
HITMAN III[]
Novikov makes a brief appearance during Agent 47's hallucinations induced by Diana Burnwood, where 47 sees a still set of Novikov about to be crushed underneath the falling decorative lights on the cat-walk, implying this was his canonical death. He would appear again in one hallucination where he and his girlfriend Margolis, alongside all of the main story targets that 47 had killed throughout the World of Assassination trilogy, crowd him.
Personality[]
In contrast to his girlfriend Dalia, who enjoys attacking the global elite via espionage, Viktor genuinely seems to enjoy being a fashionista as opposed to a spy. He takes great pride in being at the center of attention and seems to actually love Dalia. He is shown to be a cruel, unpleasant, rude, self-absorbed, pretentiously ostentatious, and obnoxious individual, and his bodyguard seems to be the only person who can tolerate him other than his girlfriend. He can also be charismatic when he wants to be, which is helpful for him leading the public to see him as a respectable businessman and not a ruthless spy.
Trivia[]
- Viktor was mentioned by Carl Ingram in Hitman III in the Dubai mission, one of Agent 47’s previous targets, despite never being an operative for Providence.
