Revision as of 11:17, 19 February 2020

Nominations for articles to be featured on the front page.

Guidelines

  • Nominations must be at the very least 350 words long.
  • An article is featured every month, or at the admins' discretion.
  • Whichever article has the most votes at the end of the month is featured for a month.
    • Each downvote counts as a point down for the nominee.
    • In case of a tie, the one with fewer downvotes wins.
  • Admin votes carry the same weight as regular users' votes.
  • All nominations and votes must be signed with four tildes (~~~~). Unsigned nominations and votes will be nullified.
  • Nominations and votes CANNOT BE CHANGED. Each user can only vote ONCE, for and against.
  • An article cannot be nominated twice in a row (if an article was nominated in the previous voting, it cannot be nominated again in the current one).
  • Users cannot nominate articles two months in a row.
  • Only six nominations max for every monthly voting are allowed. Any nomination surpassing this limit will be automatically disqualified.
  • CHEATING WILL NEVER BE TOLERATED. Any user who starts downvoting candidates just to rig the results or go asking other users to vote on his candidate will receive a warning and, in case of reincidence, a one month ban. No exceptions.
  • The use of sockpuppets in VFH is extremely forbidden, resulting in the permanent ban of the sockpuppet's account(s) and in the deletion of your nominated villain.
  • Once the vote was posted, there is no turning back to edit the description of your vote. If you voted against a candidate for a trivial reason and had your vote discarded by an admin, it will be forbidden to go back and edit the reason of your vote to make your denied vote valid again. Doing so will result in a week ban, NO exceptions.
  • There is a limit for how many times a villain can be nominated in a period of time. If a candidate is downvoted but still being brought to VFH more than once in the following months, the limit is 3 attempts. If a villain is downvoted 3 times, the villain can not be proposed again until 12 months has passed after the last proposal. Bringing the villain back before then is a violation of this rule and the candidate will be erased from the nominations. For this limit to reset, the villain must not be proposed for 12 months after the last proposal.

Suggestions

  • Be original and creative with the nominations.
  • Don't vote against a villain if you haven't read the article about it yet.
  • Don't vote against a villain just because you know nothing about him/her/it.
  • Don't say anything that may be offensive to another.
  • If you're going to vote against, present an actual argument for your reasoning. "He's boring" or "I don't like him" aren't arguments.

The correct nomination format is as follows:

  • I'd say it's about time we had a Doctor Who villain headlined. And who better a choice than the Daleks? They're essentially genocide as a force of nature.
  • I think these iconic Dr. Who villains deserve a place for the Headline because I didn't recall any Dr. Who characters who were headlined first. Better start with Daleks first because why not. That and I did remember them from one of Mr. Bean episodes about Mr. Bean playing Dalek dolls so it helps.
  • Doctor Who fan.
  • Might be nice to headline a hostile species. It's at least different.
  • I don't hate the Daleks but I don't feel that species and groups should be headlined since there more of a concept rather than a character with a personality.
  • There's no rule that says species or groups can't be headlined. And Daleks have LOADS of personality and character. See here for reference.
  • Having a group finally make the headline will certainly break up the monotony in my opinion, especially if it's an iconic species like the Daleks, no less.
  • Great nomination. Finally having some hostile-species headlined is a new achievement. Plus the Daleks sure deserve to get headlined.
  • Having an entire species rather than an individual villain as the headline in my opinion is not necessarily appropriate. It doesn't really depict how good one is in the regard of individual villainy.
  • It would be better to have a character rather than just the species.
  • Good choice here. Having a hostile species on the nominations is an awesome idea.
  • I agree that this is a great idea to nominate a hostile species for a change.

  • A hitman who gets the job well done, deciding people’s fate in a coin toss, and which is why I want to propose him for Headline! Also, because the actor was born on 3-1-1969, and would want to show appreciation for playing this character.
  • Aside from his actor (Javier Bardem) sharing the same birth month as me. Anton's a badass psychopath with unique weapons and memorable quotes. He's one of those fascinating movie characters that unnerves you, but at the same time, intrigues you.

  • Since March marks how to train your dragon's 10th anniversary I thought we should headline the most iconic villain in the franchise.
  • I am deeply sorry for the people who want Drago up. But, I am against it for several reasons. First of all, there are a lot of Pure Evil villains that were headlined and it's evidenced by the Pure Evil villains that were headlined 4 times in a row since October. It's true that the trend has been broken ever since Santanico Pandemonium has been headlined. But keep in mind that we also headlined several Pure Evil villains who are pretty much iconic such as Yuuki Terumi, IT, Westcott, Ghidorah, Frieza and so on. Of course that as a wiki, we are not going to reinforce the idea that Pure Evil is not a badge of honor and there are a lot of villains who are not Pure Evil especially the iconic ones that deserve to be headlined. Also, as a Villain, I feel that Drago is kind of... One dimensional at best. It's true that a flat character can be intimidating but I just don't see here with Drago's case.
  • HTTYD anniversary
  • HTTYD celebrates its 10th anniversary. While I wished Grimmel the Grisly could have been nominated, Drago does fine.
  • While he posed a significant threat, he lacked personality and wasn't all that memorable. I agree that Grimmel the Grisly would've been a better choice for HTTYD's 10th anniversary.
  • I feel that we've had too many Pure Evil villains recently, with Santanico being the only break right now.

  • Considering The Simpsons recently had its 30th anniversary in December, it seems fitting to headline one of the show's best and most famous villains.
