Revision as of 23:22, 9 June 2020

Nominations for articles to be featured on the front page.

Guidelines

  • Nominations must be at the very least 350 words long.
  • An article is featured every month, or at the admins' discretion.
  • Whichever article has the most votes at the end of the month is featured for a month.
    • Each downvote counts as a point down for the nominee.
    • In case of a tie, the one with fewer downvotes wins.
  • Admin votes carry the same weight as regular users' votes.
  • All nominations and votes must be signed with four tildes (~~~~). Unsigned nominations and votes will be nullified.
  • Nominations and votes CANNOT BE CHANGED. Each user can only vote ONCE, for and against.
  • An article cannot be nominated twice in a row (if an article was nominated in the previous voting, it cannot be nominated again in the current one).
  • Users cannot nominate articles two months in a row.
  • Only six nominations max for every monthly voting are allowed. Any nomination surpassing this limit will be automatically disqualified.
  • CHEATING WILL NEVER BE TOLERATED. Any user who starts downvoting candidates just to rig the results or go asking other users to vote on his candidate will receive a warning and, in case of reincidence, a one month ban. No exceptions.
  • The use of sockpuppets in VFH is extremely forbidden, resulting in the permanent ban of the sockpuppet's account(s) and in the deletion of your nominated villain.
  • Once the vote was posted, there is no turning back to edit the description of your vote. If you voted against a candidate for a trivial reason and had your vote discarded by an admin, it will be forbidden to go back and edit the reason of your vote to make your denied vote valid again. Doing so will result in a week ban, NO exceptions.
  • There is a limit for how many times a villain can be nominated in a period of time. If a candidate is downvoted but still being brought to VFH more than once in the following months, the limit is 3 attempts. If a villain is downvoted 3 times, the villain can not be proposed again until 12 months has passed after the last proposal. Bringing the villain back before then is a violation of this rule and the candidate will be erased from the nominations. For this limit to reset, the villain must not be proposed for 12 months after the last proposal.

Suggestions

  • Be original and creative with the nominations.
  • Don't vote against a villain if you haven't read the article about it yet.
  • Don't vote against a villain just because you know nothing about him/her/it.
  • Don't say anything that may be offensive to another.
  • If you're going to vote against, present an actual argument for your reasoning. "He's boring" or "I don't like him" aren't arguments.

The correct nomination format is as follows:

Shendu

  • A recurring villain and constant threat all throughout the series, Shendu keeps his importance even when he's not the focus, as every other major villain is connected to him in some manner.

Trevor Philips

Comments
  • I am nominating Trevor for two reasons:
    • 1. Trevor Phillips is an extremely popular character as he is basically is the series in human form (you know, destroying everything in your path and messing around without care), and he is also super hilarious despite all the horrible things he does.
    • 2. The month of July will be both Canada Day and Independence Day and Trevor is both Canadian and the game is set in the United States so it will be a good way to celebrate both holidays and the same time.

Soldier (Team Fortress 2)

For: 4

Comments
  • Rick May, the voice actor for the Soldier, died from COVID-19 on April 13 of this year. Because Independence Day is next month, I think the Soldier would be a fitting character to be headlined for the month of July, in addition to fact that it will act as a tribute to the late voice actor.
  • Im just gonna vote both Heroes and Villains wiki just to pay respect for him.
  • While I have mssive respect for the voice actor the soilder seems almost too generic to be a VFH and I believe there are other villains that would be better to fill the role.
  • No hard feelings and don't wanna seem like an ass, but wouldn't Andross work better for a villain that Rick May voices? Andross is a far larger figure in villainy, and Star Fox in my mind feels more important of a game compared to TF2. Not only that, but Rick's most iconic line ("Do a barrel roll!") hails from Star Fox.
  • Yeah, but the idea was that it payed homage to his voice actor AND Independence Day.

  • Helping a friend of mine and yes, Underrated villain deserved better. I think all of you have good candidates to proposed especially on the Soldier's case. (May Rick May rest in peace) However, I'm currently choosing a decent underdog candidate because a lot of underrated villains deserve better.
  • Pretty unique and interesting choice that I'd personally just like to see headlined.

Smaug

For: 9
Against: 2
Comments
  • Too overrated. The more underrated villains can do with more attention.
  • Smaug is a very iconic dragon, and is one of the most iconic villains in LOTR, so he definitely deserve a chance.
  • Cumberbatch gave both Smaug and Sauron that great flair with his voice acting. Had I been here before the latter was headlined I would've voted for him too.
  • Smaug is from Hobbits, not LOTR.
  • I'm not bashing Smaug, but is there any other reason for his nomination, than "He's iconic?" Like, why should Smaug be headlined in July? He doesn't really fit the theme of July, none of The Hobbit books or movies were released in July, so why should he be headlined in July?
  • There's no rule saying every month has to follow a theme with its villain so you're reasoning doesn't really make sense.
  • Never said it did, at least for other people. Just that for me, it helps to have more reason behind your nominee than just being "iconic," because there are tons of villains that are iconic. Also, while not all VFH's have a theme, a lot of them do, by fitting the month's main holiday. (DIO; Halloween, Gendo; Father's Day, Lubdan; St. Patrick's Day, Krampus; Christmas) Then, there's doing it as tribute for someone who passed, to celebrate an anniversary of a piece of media, and because of a piece of media getting a remake or sequel. To my knowledge, Smaug has none of these reasons going for him. So, it really just boils down to "he's an iconic villain," which to me, isn't enough to justify voting for him.

Mary Shaw

  • Beware the stare of Mary Shaw. She had no children, only dolls. And if you see her in your dreams, you must not ever scream.
